On October 28, archeologists from POWER Engineers, Inc. (POWER) conducted an intensive archeological survey for the proposed Long Road electrical substation project (Project) in Denton County, Texas. The survey was undertaken on behalf of Denton Municipal Electric (DME) for a proposed substation facility that will connect with the existing Texas Municipal Power Agency 138 kV transmission line extending from the Denton North Interchange to the Arco Substation. No archeological materials were recorded as a result of the survey.

This report documents the results of an archeological survey conducted on behalf of the Texas Department of Transportation, Dallas District, for proposed construction of a new segment of Loop 288 that would extend from IH 35E north of Denton to IH 35E at Vintage Boulevard south of Denton (CSJs 2250-02-013 and 2250-02-014). The road project involves construction of new location roadway for a distance of approximately eight miles. Archeological work was performed to comply with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and the Antiquities Code of Texas, under Texas Antiquities Permit 5660. 0n December 2, 2014, an intensive archeological survey was completed in order to evaluate potential archeological impacts associated with the proposed construction of a new electrical substation within an approximately 20-acre (8-hectare) parcel in Little Elm, Denton County, Texas. Melissa M. Green (Principal Investigator) of Cox|McLain Environmental Consulting, Inc. (CMEC) carried out the survey for Brazos Electric Power Cooperative, Inc. (BEPC) and the United States Department of Agriculture, Rural Utilities Service (USDA-RUS) under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), as amended. A Texas Antiquities Permit was not required.

In April and May of 2015, on behalf of CH2M and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Dallas District, Hicks & Company conducted an intensive archeological survey for TxDOT’s proposed improvements to Interstate 35 West (I-35W) from Eagle Parkway to State Highway (SH) 114 in Denton County, Texas (CSJ 0081-13-041). The purpose of the proposed project is to provide frontage road system linkage between SH 114 to the north and Eagle Parkway to the south.
