Providing greater communication for media outlets in Dayton and across the United States is one of the goals for Cedarville University's newest communication vehicles--its high-tech newsroom.

Operational since September 13, Cedarville University's public relations department has provided Dayton media with 14 interviews--three being on live television. A benefit for Cedarville University from the newsroom is it is expected to help increase awareness for its faculty and academic programs.

Developing greater awareness is a function of public relations. At Cedarville University, this includes finding new ways of telling stories of academic excellence and Christian mission through the media.

By Friday, Cedarville University will have a better opportunity to achieve this objective as it will officially open its first newsroom on campus. The facility, located in Centennial Library, will allow the university to connect its stories and professors’ expertise more easily with local and national media.

Public relations has long been preoccupied with the notion of dialogue, and the advent of social media ushered in new enthusiasm. Still, despite the technology on offer and the fact that dialogue has become a value that ‘everyone’ embraces, most research concludes that little actual dialogue takes place between corporations and their stakeholders. Scholars have pointed to a host of different factors to explain this, ranging from practitioners’ lack of time to their lack of understanding of what dialogue is. Internal communication is increasingly vital to organizational success due to the influence of social media, yet it remains understudied within public relations research. Using a qualitative content analysis of 181 websites, this study examines how leading public relations agency websites frame the value of internal communication and its connection to social media. Findings reveal internal communication is largely missing from the frame. When explicitly referenced, it is mostly framed as synonymous with employee communication as a means for management to communicate to employees, though some portrayals are more robust. The 2017 strategic public relations (COMM 347) created a campaign to increase faculty’s awareness of the pedagogical benefits of digital scholarship and the work being done by faculty. In spite of the macro-economic impact of the so-called ‘sharing economy’ there is a nearly complete dearth of contributions from the communication academy to its discourse. More attention is overdue, particularly for the conceptual pressure the ‘sharing economy’ is exerting on the public relations function. The authors propose a reconceptualization of public relations by identifying the constitutive aspects of the sharing economy and bringing together the explanatory concepts ‘circuits of commerce’ and ‘viable matches’ from economic sociology and communicative constitution of organizations theory to develop the notions of ‘deliberate disintermediation’ and ‘circuits of communication’ in public relations. Determinants Of Employee Turnover Intention: Understanding The Roles Of Organizational Justice, Supervisory Justice, Authoritarian Organizational Culture And Organization-Employee Relationship Quality, Soojin Kim, Lisa Tam, Jeong-Nam Kim, Yunna Rhee

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to identify associations amongst organizational justice, supervisory justice, authoritarian culture, organization-employeerelationship quality and employee turnover intention. Design/methodology/approach: An online survey (n=300) was conducted in South Korea. Findings: Organizational justice and supervisory justice are positively associated with organization-employee relationship quality, while authoritarian organizational culture is negatively associated with it. In addition, there is a positive association between authoritarian organizational culture and turnover intention. Organizational justice and organization-employee relationship quality are negatively associated with turnover intention. This qualitative study is the first known effort to define the differing perceptions of public relations leadership at three distinct career points and explore the leadership development gaps and needs from these varied perspectives. Semistructured interviews with senior public relations practitioners, young professionals, and current students in the United States bring needed depth and clarity to prior scholarship on leadership development, a growing concern within the public relations industry around the world. Additionally, the findings pinpoint leadership development best practices for better infusing leadership development into undergraduate public relations education and into training and development programs for young professionals.

For decades, the territorial dispute between China and Japan over the sovereignty of the Senkaku Islands has caused diplomatic deteriorations in Sino-Japanese relations. When there is extensive media coverage on news about the dispute, nationalist sentiments in both two countries would be triggered and could be expressed through detrimental behaviors towards transnational corporations (hereinafter TNCs). While TNCs play a significant political function as corporate diplomats for their home countries, they are subject to the risk of crises when their home countries are involved in political and economic conflicts with the foreign countries in which they have operations.
