Biosphere reserves exist officially as “learning places for sustainable development,” yet they also embody an attempt to bring together ecological governance with market-based and localized solutions to the problem of economic development (UNESCO, 2020). This thesis investigates the conditions under which biosphere reserves became reimagined as an all-encompassing solution to such a diverse set of global governance challenges. I explore the relationship between biosphere reserves and the evolving discourse on sustainable development within global governance. This project conducted with the Center for Resilient Communities at West Virginia University is focused on identifying and understanding barriers and opportunities present within the Farm to School program in West Virginia. Through this project, a producer survey was conducted to understand the production side of the program, a quantitative analysis was conducted of state and county level Farm to School purchasing data, and organizational sales through a local nonprofit were reviewed. Through this analysis, it was found that access to new markets and lack of knowledge and information posed a significant barrier for increased production from producers surveyed. It …

The objective of the research was to assess the influence of electronic education (e-learning) on faculty members’ performance through sustainable development at the Police Science Academy (PSA) in Sharjah.

The analysis unit of the study consisted of all full and part-time faculty members at PSA in Sharjah. Thirty-three questionnaires were distributed by Google Forms, and 30 questionnaires were retrieved. The study is explanatory, and it is quantitative in nature.

The study revealed that e-learning and its dimensions (human resources, technological infrastructure, electronic curriculum, electronic exam, electronic legislation, privacy and security, and organizational culture) are significantly associated with faculty member performance. …

We present the Urban Nature Indexes (UNI), a comprehensive tool that measures urban ecological performance under one standard framework linked to global commitments. The UNI was developed by interdisciplinary experts and evaluated by practitioners from diverse cities to capture each city’s ecological footprint from local to global scale. The UNI comprises six themes (consumption drivers, human pressures, habitat status, species status, nature’s contributions to people, and governance responses) that encompass measurable impacts on climate change, biodiversity loss, ecosystem services, pollution, consumption, water management, and equity within one comprehensive system. The IEA's International Civic and Citizenship Education Study (ICCS) investigates the ways in which young people around the world are prepared to undertake their roles as citizens. This report presents the European results from the third cycle of the study (ICCS 2022). Eighteen countries and two benchmarking participants (the German states of North Rhine-Westphalia and Schleswig-Holstein) administered the European student questionnaire to target grade students in this study cycle. This paper attempts to measure the performance of sustainable development at the regional level in Indonesia by newly constructing a multidimensional composite index called the Regional Sustainable Development Index (RSDI). After conducting an examination of local businesses to determine those that utilize such strategies, members of the selected organizations were contacted via email and asked to participate in a survey intended to generate qualitative data relating to corporate sustainability.
