The study examined the roles of the public library in promoting reading culture in Rwanda. A case study research design was used, with both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Data were collected using the triangulation method employing questionnaires, interviews, and observation. Quantitative data were analyzed using Microsoft Excel Office 2010. Thematic method of analysis was used to analyze qualitative data. The study findings indicate that the public library was being used by most library users for reading. This study investigates students’ preference of reading print and digital resources. A questionnaire survey with a stratified random sample of 700 postgraduate students of the universities in Kerala state of India was used to conduct the study. Comparison on media provided a fascinating insight into the way students read. The students reported a better comprehension, concentration, higher content absorption and comfort levels, if they read on print resources as opposed to digital resources.
