The questionnaire was used as the instrument for data collection. Data generated from the study were analyzed using frequency count and simple percentage (%). Findings of the study revealed that; although disciplinary procedures are rarely carried out, the discipline procedures mainly demonstrated in the libraries studied …

Improving The Workplace: One Procedure At A Time, Hailey Higgs Oct 2023

Improving The Workplace: One Procedure At A Time, Hailey Higgs

IPS/BAS 495 Undergraduate Capstone Projects

My capstone project addresses the lack of formal procedures and employee training at Realms. Realms is a new bar, arcade, and venue in Boise Idaho where I am currently employed as the bartender. During my time there so far I have observed the lack of written procedures, an employee manual, or an official training process. As an employee, I have witnessed these shortcomings at Realms result in various mistakes which ultimately negatively affect my main stakeholder, Tanner Nielsen, the owner and operator of Realms among my fellow employees and the Realms customer base. In order to improve the efficiency, clarity, …

Time Towards Tenure Dean’S Procedures For University Libraries, Annie Bélanger Jan 2023

Time Towards Tenure Dean’S Procedures For University Libraries, Annie Bélanger

Library Reports and Communication

The Dean has the authority to grant time towards tenure as per BOT Policy 4.2.7 at the time of appointment. The policy allows for up to 3 years of equivalency at another academic institution. Once granted, it cannot be subsequently changed, rescinded or revoked. The ability to pause the tenure clock as granted by BOT Policy 4.2.7.2 remains available to faculty members who have been awarded time towards tenure.

This document outlines the approach that the Dean of University Libraries will use in granting time towards tenure in order to advance transparency and accountability in the granting of equivalency.

Developing Policies And Procedures For Restorative Accountability At Southwestern Assemblies Of God University, W. Lance Meche May 2022

Developing Policies And Procedures For Restorative Accountability At Southwestern Assemblies Of God University, W. Lance Meche

Doctor of Ministry Theses

This project was designed to address a lack of policies and procedures at Southwestern Assemblies of God University that support its restorative accountability approach in addressing student conduct violations. The student handbook provides rights and responsibilities afforded each student as well as the procedures that appointed staff members are to follow in the event that campus policies are violated; however, the language used in the student handbook did not address modern student culture, nor did it procedurally assist staff members in helping students to develop spiritually. The project intervention involved staff members who address student violations with grace as well …

Rethinking Digital Forensics, Andrew Jones, Stilianos Vidalis Jan 2019

Rethinking Digital Forensics, Andrew Jones, Stilianos Vidalis

Research outputs 2014 to 2021

In the modern socially-driven, knowledge-based virtual computing environment in which organisations are operating, the current digital forensics tools and practices can no longer meet the need for scientific rigour. There has been an exponential increase in the complexity of the networks with the rise of the Internet of Things, cloud technologies and fog computing altering business operations and models. Adding to the problem are the increased capacity of storage devices and the increased diversity of devices that are attached to networks, operating autonomously. We argue that the laws and standards that have been written, the processes, procedures and tools that …

If You Describe It, They Will Come: Processing Guidelines For Audiovisual Materials At The Rose Library, Laura Starratt Jan 2019

If You Describe It, They Will Come: Processing Guidelines For Audiovisual Materials At The Rose Library, Laura Starratt

Provenance, Journal of the Society of Georgia Archivists

Audiovisual materials can be overlooked by researchers due to their more complicated access issues, but archivists can facilitate their use by creating more granular finding aids that incorporate audiovisual materials by content rather than format. Using the procedures at Emory University's Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library as a case study, the author argues for a professional culture in which collections are not viewed as “finished” until all components are accessible.

My Classroom Management Plan: The First Two Weeks Of School, Hannah Burkhart Dec 2014

My Classroom Management Plan: The First Two Weeks Of School, Hannah Burkhart

Honors Projects

As a pre-service teacher in one of the best teacher preparatory programs in the country, I learned many of the theories behind classroom management and discipline. After spending time during student teaching in my own classroom, however, I needed a more immediately useful solution than theory could provide. After investigating varied classroom management approaches and styles, I discovered the work of Harry and Rosemary Wong who inspired the creation of my own classroom management plan: a step-by-step guide of best practices and approaches to respond to daily issues and routines in the classroom. While I have heard that “the best …

A Round-Robin Test With Thermal Simulation Of The Welding Haz To Draw Cct Diagrams: A Need For Harmonized Procedures And Microconstituent Terminologies, Americo Scotti, Huijun Li, Rosa M. Miranda Jan 2014

A Round-Robin Test With Thermal Simulation Of The Welding Haz To Draw Cct Diagrams: A Need For Harmonized Procedures And Microconstituent Terminologies, Americo Scotti, Huijun Li, Rosa M. Miranda

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

Thermal simulations of heat affected zone (HAZ) have been widely used. This is an economic expedite process for phase transformation evaluations in steels when subjected to weld thermal cycles as well as to draw continuous cooling transformation (CCT) diagrams. Different approaches for the simulation and parameter settings have been used by several researchers, yet leading to not always even results. Thus, it was proposed a round-robin test trial performed by different laboratories, aiming to evidence potential sources of error or inadequacy of the approaches. A High Strength Low Alloy (HSLA) steel was used as a case study. Despite the limited …

Development Of Safe Optimized Welding Procedures For High Strength Q&T Steel Welded With Austenitic Consumables, Lenka Kuzmikova, Huijun Li, John Norrish, Zengxi Stephen Pan, Nathan Larkin

zengxi pan

High strength quenched and tempered (Q&T) steels offer obvious economic benefits originating from their advantageous strength to price and weight ratios. These steels are usually welded using ferritic consumables and for this combination the risk of hydrogen assisted cold cracking (HACC) is high. The use of austenitic stainless steel (ASS) consumables has great potential to significantly improve this issue. Yet, there are no guidelines for determination of safe level of preheat for welding ferritic steels with ASS consumables. For this reason manufacturers adopt this parameter from procedures developed for conventional ferritic consumables thus significantly limiting the benefits ASS consumables are …

An Improved Osl Chronology For The Still Bay Layers At Blombos Cave, South Africa: Further Tests Of Single-Grain Dating Procedures And A Re-Evaluation Of The Timing Of The Still Bay Industry Across Southern Africa, Zenobia Jacobs, Elspeth Hayes, Richard Roberts, Rex Galbraith, Christopher Henshilwood

Richard G Roberts

This paper presents a series of new single-grain optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) ages for the Still Bay at Blombos Cave, South Africa, and compares them to previously published OSL, thermoluminescence (TL) and electron-spin resonance (ESR) ages for this site. Details are provided about the measurement and analytical procedures, including a discussion of the characteristics of the OSL signals of individual quartz grains. This forms the basis for further investigations into the sensitivity of the equivalent dose (De) estimates to a range of different analytical approaches, including changes in the size of the test dose, the choice of signal integration interval, …

Sequential Extraction Procedures For The Determination Of Phosphorus Forms In Sediment, Changyou Wang, Yong Zhang, Hongli Li, R John Morrison Jan 2013

Sequential Extraction Procedures For The Determination Of Phosphorus Forms In Sediment, Changyou Wang, Yong Zhang, Hongli Li, R John Morrison

Faculty of Science, Medicine and Health - Papers: part A

This article summarizes the main extraction methods for sedimentary phosphorus (P) determination. With sequential chemical extractions, P is supposed to be selectively removed from different compounds in the sediments. Extraction schemes using strong acids and alkaline solutions have been tested on different sediments and found not to extract well-defined fractions. In addition, several systematic errors in these schemes have been detected. Thus, these schemes have been modified and simplified accordingly. The Standards Measurements and Testing Program of the European Commission (SMT) method is a popular modification of these extraction schemes, as it is simple to handle, allows laboratories to achieve …

On The Dose Dependency Of The Bleachable And Non-Bleachable Components Of Irsl From K-Feldspar: Improved Procedures For Luminescence Dating Of Quaternary Sediments, Bo Li, Richard G. Roberts, Zenobia Jacobs Jan 2013

On The Dose Dependency Of The Bleachable And Non-Bleachable Components Of Irsl From K-Feldspar: Improved Procedures For Luminescence Dating Of Quaternary Sediments, Bo Li, Richard G. Roberts, Zenobia Jacobs

Faculty of Science, Medicine and Health - Papers: part A

The infrared (IR) stimulated luminescence (IRSL) and post-IR IRSL (pIRIR) signals from K-feldspar can, for convenience, be divided into two components, bleachable and ‘non-bleachable’, where the latter corresponds to the ‘residual’ signal observed in sunlight-bleached samples. In this paper, we examine the non-bleachable component of IRSL of K-feldspar for several sedimentary samples from across Eurasia. We observed a large variability in the residual doses among these samples after prolonged exposure to sunlight. By employing multiple elevated temperature (MET) IR stimulations at 50–300 °C, we show that the residual dose increases systematically with stimulation temperature, attaining values as high as ∼50 …

Quality Of Systematic Therapeutic Homework Administration Procedures Facilitates Homework Completion In Patients With Severe And Persistent Mental Disorders, Peter Kelly, Frank Deane Jul 2012

Quality Of Systematic Therapeutic Homework Administration Procedures Facilitates Homework Completion In Patients With Severe And Persistent Mental Disorders, Peter Kelly, Frank Deane

Peter Kelly

Most clinicians who work with individuals diagnosed with psychotic disorders requiring long term treatment indicate that they use therapeutic homework regularly in treatment. However, research indicates that only 15% of clinicians consistently use a systematic approach to homework administration that involves specifying details such as where, when, how long and how often the assignment should be completed. It has been theorised that systematic implementation of homework leads to improved homework performance. Systematic homework administration procedures were part of a study evaluating the effects of the Collaborative Recovery training program. Clinicians who completed the training implemented the methods they had learned …

Comparison Of Ohs Course Accreditation Procedures In Australia, Sue Reed, Jane Whitelaw Jan 2012

Comparison Of Ohs Course Accreditation Procedures In Australia, Sue Reed, Jane Whitelaw

Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) - Papers

As OHS professional bodies have moved or are moving towards professional certification of their members, the need for accredited programs of study has developed. This move has been prompted by the requirement of the certification boards for the applicant to demonstrate that they have the minimum knowledge required to work at a professional level. The AIOH has had a course accreditation procedure for over 20 years as discussed by Whitelaw and Reed (2011) which has been well recognised by the profession, but until 2009 only one course had been accredited. In the last two years the AIOH has revised its …

Making The Most Of Your Video Collections: Trends In Patron Access And Resource Sharing, Barbara J. Bergman Jan 2010

Making The Most Of Your Video Collections: Trends In Patron Access And Resource Sharing, Barbara J. Bergman

Library Services Publications

Video collections have undergone many changes over the recent decades, but have library circulation policies and practices kept up? The historical model for audiovisual collections at colleges and universities has been that of a reserve collection where films were purchased at faculty request as classroom support, held in closed stacks for availability to faculty while student access was limited, and rarely was resource sharing through interlibrary loan allowed. Research showed that while this model still exists, it is no longer the only model. The purpose of this article is to discuss trends seen in policies and practices of how academic …
