This research explores the changes in gender roles among Syrian refugee women in Jordan. Since 2011, more than a million Syrian refugees have settled in Jordan. Around 83% of Syrian refugees have resided in host communities in Jordan and around 70% of the Syrian population come from the rural areas in Syria refugees. Syrian refugees have experienced change on different levels of their lives since the beginning of the displacement. This ethnographic study was conducted in Zarqa, a major city in the middle region of Jordan, and a major host community for Syrian refugees in Jordan. The city is known …

هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى تحديد مستوى تطبيق مبادئ الحوكمة في المجالس البلدية الأردنية، والتعرف إلى وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في مستوى تطبيق مبادئ الحوكمة بين المجالس البلدية تعزى للمتغيرات الديمغرافية لعينة الدراسة. وتكوّن مجتمع الدراسة من العاملين في المجالس البلدية ضمن المستويات الإدارية في محافظات الزرقاء، إربد، جرش وعجلون، ولتحقيق أهداف الدراسة تم تطوير استبانة لغرض جمع البيانات، وقد تم توزيع الاستبانة على عينة مكونة من (350) عاملاً في المجالس البلدية ضمن المستويات الإدارية، ﻭتم استرداد (307) اﺴﺘﺒﺎﻨﺔ مستكملة، وتم استخدام الأساليب الإحصائية المناسبة لتحليل بيانات الدراسة واختبار فرضياتها وذلك بالإستعانة بالرزمة الإحصائية (SPSS). وأظهرت الدراسة مجموعة من النتائج …

Recent literature has debated the viability and efficacy of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) when they are constrained both by written law and by regulations placed by larger funding agencies. However, there has been less research into comparisons of NGOs within a country, especially when they receive different levels of government restriction. One such case is in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, a constitutional monarchy that has three unofficial designations for its NGOs and non-profit organizations: Royal NGOs (RONGOs), quasi-governmental organizations (QONGOs), and NGOs. هدف المقال التَّعرُّف إلى أنواع الأزمات، في الاتِّحادات الرِّياضيَّة الأردنيَّة، وأسباب ظهورها، والحلول المقترحة لها، وقد استخدم الباحث استبانتين، الأولى لجمع المعلومات المتعلِّقة بأسباب الأزمات، في الاتِّحادات الرِّياضيَّة الأردنيَّة، والثَّانية لقياس الحلول المقترحة للأزمات. واشتملت الدِّراسة على عيِّنتين بلغ مجموعهما النهائيّ (304) عاملًا في الاتِّحادات الرِّياضية، من بينهم رؤوساء، وأعضاء مجالس إدارة الاتِّحادات الرِّياضيَّة. وقد تمَّ تحليل البيانات باستخدام الإحصاء الوصفيّ، متمثِّلًا في المتوسِّطات الحسابيَّة، والانحرافات المعياريَّة، والأهميَّة النِّسبيَّة، كما استُخدِم الإحصاء الاستنتاجيّ متمثِّلًا في حساب معامل بيرسون، وتحليل التَّباين الأحادي، واختبار معامل الاتِّساق الداخليّ (كرونباخ ألفا)، واختبار شيفيه للمقارنات البعديَّة، وقد أظهرت النَّتائج أنَّ الاتِّحادات الرِّياضيَّة الأردنيَّة تُواجه مستوى …

This thesis argues that external foreign powers, namely the United States and Syria, influenced foreign policy elites in Jordan and Lebanon to either pursue or reject normalization agreements with Israel throughout history. This thesis also examines how elite foreign policy-makers shape Lebanese and Jordanian public opinion through their policies with Israel.

Inspired by the 2011 Arab Spring events in Tunisia, cries of the regional chant “al-sha’ab yurid isqat al-nizam” (the people want to bring down the regime) were echoing in several MENA countries. Targeted demonstrations were aimed to express people’s dissatisfaction with the political and socioeconomic conditions within their countries. Protestors demanded regime change and, as a result, authoritarian leaders in countries like Tunisia and Libya were deposed. This Qualitative study aims to discover and analyze the psychological, economic, social and physical effects of the Corona pandemic on older people, specifically those who reside in nursing homes. The qualitative approach was used, and 16 in-depth interviews were conducted with older women and men in August 2021 using the convenience sample. The study concluded that the corona pandemic has caused the elderly residents of the guest house to experience a variety of problems, including their increased fear of death as a result of the virus spread, as well as their feelings of loneliness, anxiety and mental disorders. The study was designed to identify the role of Jordanian public universities in facing the phenomenon of intellectual extremism from the point of view of faculty members. The study sample consisted of (970) teaching staff members of the study society. The analytical descriptive method was used to achieve the objectives of the study. The current study attempts to explore the asymmetric long-run equilibrium relationship between trade and financial openness and financial development, especially in banking sector. Using Jordanian data, over the period 1980 to 2019. The study has found evidence of asymmetry pattern in the relationship between trade and financial openness and the credit to private sector ratio. From estimation of error-correction model, the adjustment back to equilibrium is more rapid following relative increase in trade and financial openness compared to relative decrease in trade and financial openness

The Impact Of Media And Information Literacy On Students’ Acquisition Of The Skills Needed To Detect Fake News, Reem M. Al Zou'bi Dr.
Journal of Media Literacy Education
This research investigated the impact of media and information literacy (MIL) on education faculty students’ acquisition of the skills needed to detect fake news. A one-group experimental design was employed with a randomly selected sample of 100 Jordanian undergraduate students. The participants completed one pre-test and two post-tests, each of which consisted of 10 closed-ended questions and one open-ended question on how to detect fake news. Whistleblowers take it upon themselves to protect public goods and resources by blowing the whistle on corruption. Yet, they are at risk of facing retaliation from their employers, as well as of experiencing firing, unfair appraisal, and isolation at work. In this article, we investigate the extent of whistleblower protection in Jordan. We discuss whistleblowers’ significant role in reporting wrongdoings and fighting corruption, as well as the price that whistleblowers pay to protect the public interest. The goal of this research was to see how the internet helped to bridge the digital divide between Jordanians during the Coronavirus outbreak. A quantitative approach is adopted. 210 questionnaire forms were distributed randomly to the members of the sample through using: (https://docs.google.com). They were distributed using email and WhatsApp. 200 forms were analyzed. They represent 95% of the distributed forms. The questionnaire consists of 20 statements. This study discusses how International Financial Institutions (IFIs), primarily the International Monetary Fund (IMF), have incorporated the social dimension when designing their reform programs in the Middle East. This research explores three case studies of IMF programs in Tunisia, Jordan and Egypt, and examines how the process of designing and implementing social protection programs has changed after the Arab Spring. The majority of refugees around the world are in protracted refugee situations, living in exile for at least five years with no sign of a durable solution. There are three possible durable solutions: repatriation, local integration, and resettlement. Repatriation remains the main durable solution, but the circumstances should be conducive for return to the country of origin. In the meantime, local integration gives refugees some certainty about what to do with their lives. Local integration is a process with three interrelated dimensions: legal, economic, and social. The study aims at identifying the degree to which the use of modern educational technologies on the quality of education and its development in al-ahliyya Amman university from the viewpoint of faculty members by developing a questionnaire consisting of (20) items which were distributed to a random sample consisting of (198) faculty members.
