The article reports that the Digital Library of Georgia (DLG) offers a sub grant program providing institutions in services to create a digital collection. Topics include DLG staff promote the new collections on social media, and all produced content is accessible online for free; and the life cycle of the subgranting program, using UGA's Law School's Lecture & Presentation Photograph Archive of the digitization project.

Succession And Workforce Planning In Small To Mid-Size Academic Libraries In The United States, Kaci Resau

This study sought to explore the use of succession and workforce planning in small to mid-size academic libraries in the United States. Utilizing Paula Singer’s 2010 definition of succession planning, sixty-three library leaders from across the United States shared their knowledge and expertise in one-tone interviews on the library’s efforts to create “continuity in key positions, develop intellectual and knowledge capital for the future, and encourage individual advancement.” The study uses the traditional model of public administration, new public management, and new public service to explain the findings. The article analyzes how the legacy of school librarianship inform the future of school librarians as teachers. Topics discussed include lower test scores and fewer opportunities to develop critical thinking and digital literacy skills among students, need for the federal government to recognize the importance of school libraries and how well-staffed school library with a qualified librarian can provide essential services and resources.
