Mobile Library In Indonesian Villages: A Form Of Sustainable Development Goal In Education (Sdg 4), Nadi Suprapto, Ahmad Qosyim
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
Mobile libraries synthesize various cultural, cultural, and structural problems to bring information sources closer to the community. In understanding the actual situation and the role of the mobile library in supporting SDG 4, this research was conducted. This research utilized a survey study to the visitors who were interested in visiting the mobile library. Totally, 146 participants were invited to participate in the study. The results of a semi-structured interview supported the quantitative data. The findings succeed in analyzing the frequency of visitors visiting the mobile library, the favorites books, and the perceptions of the benefits among visitors to the …

Teaching A Hybrid Administrative Law Simulation Class Using Jurassic Park, Roberto L. Corrada
Teaching A Hybrid Administrative Law Simulation Class Using Jurassic Park, Roberto L. Corrada
Sturm College of Law: Faculty Scholarship
For more than a decade, educators and scholars have been calling for changes in methods of instruction, especially in higher education, based on developments in the field of learning science. This has been true for legal education as well, but additionally based on fundamental shifts in the way legal employers, especially law firms, hire and train new lawyers? These suggested changes for legal education include more emphasis on professional skills training, leadership development, and teamwork. While there has been no dearth of writing about the need for change in legal education, and even about specific outcomes or goals for legal …
The Suburbanization Of The Assyrian Refugees And Migrant Families And Its Implications On The Assyrian Ethnic Identity, Saidouri Zomaya
The Suburbanization Of The Assyrian Refugees And Migrant Families And Its Implications On The Assyrian Ethnic Identity, Saidouri Zomaya
Graduate Research Theses & Dissertations
This thesis argues that living in Albany Park, Chicago, is a personal and unique experience for Assyrian refugees and migrant families despite mutual feelings of belonging that residents may experience while living in the neighborhood. Along with the social and political factors that impact one’s experience of mobility and integration, “agency” plays an instrumental role in deciding whether to remain connected to one's community, potentially impacting one’s Assyrian identity and future generations. I utilize a qualitative research approach by interviewing Assyrian refugees and migrant families to shed light on the stories of the Assyrian community in Chicago. This research demonstrates …
The Mediating Effect Of Parental Involvement On Peer Influence And Belongingness On Adolescent Educational Aspirations, Thavy Van Garst
The Mediating Effect Of Parental Involvement On Peer Influence And Belongingness On Adolescent Educational Aspirations, Thavy Van Garst
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
Parental involvement has been found to be a significant influence in determining whether adolescents are more likely to succeed academically (Georgiou & Tourva, 2007). Amongst other influences, parental involvement has been shown to impact the ability to resist negative peer influence. Additionally, having a sense of belongingness influences the probability that an adolescent will aspire to achieve higher educational aspirations (Bouchard & Berg, 2017). However, researchers have yet to examine the combination of the importance of belongingness and the impact of positive peer influence on adolescents' educational aspirations. The present study aimed to investigate whether parental involvement had a significant …
Increasing Numbers Of Chinese Students At U.S. Higher Education: Theories, Discussions, And Survey Findings In Context Of Chinese Education And Social Stratification, Youren Yu
Senior Projects Spring 2022
The U.S. Immigration and Custom Enforcement reports that Chinese international students have been increasing continuously for over a decade, and they are also the biggest group of international students in the U.S. Reviewing key theories and literature on social stratification such as the rational choice model, maximally maintained inequality, and effectively maintained inequality, and conducting in-depths surveys with 15 Chinese students studying in U.S. higher education institutions, I discuss micro and macro level reasons why some Chinese students choose U.S higher education. I argue at the micro level, the decision can be explained by individual disagreement with the Chinese education …
Safety Splash: Pool Safety For Children And Adults, Rachel Lofton
Safety Splash: Pool Safety For Children And Adults, Rachel Lofton
Honors Theses
This outreach project was made to address the issue of too many children drowning at pools due to a lack of water safety education. The dissemination of pool safety education is imperative to reduce accidental injuries and drownings. The goal of the Safety Splash video and supplemental materials is to provide pool safety education for children and adults. By encouraging conversations between children and adults before going to the pool, there can be an intervention that reduces the risk of injury and drowning once they arrive. Through research, I compiled information to support the effectiveness of a combination video, pamphlet, …

The Essence Of Soil Biodiversity, Loren B. Byrne
The Essence Of Soil Biodiversity, Loren B. Byrne
Arts & Sciences Faculty Publications
Soil ecologists and conservationists should focus on raising people’s awareness of the essence of soil biodiversity: its complex ecologicalwebs and emergent ecosystemservices that support aboveground life and human well-being. Conservation and communication efforts regarding soil biodiversity must consider local-scale ecological contexts and different audiences. Engaging educational and outreach materials and methods should be prioritized to advance preservation of soil systems and their biodiversity.
Exploring Long-Term Impacts Of Self-Regulated Learning Interventions In K-12 Contexts: A Systematic Review, Erin Cousins, Linda Bol, Tian Luo
Exploring Long-Term Impacts Of Self-Regulated Learning Interventions In K-12 Contexts: A Systematic Review, Erin Cousins, Linda Bol, Tian Luo
Educational Leadership & Workforce Development Faculty Publications
While research illustrates the benefits of interventions designed to improve self-regulated learning (SRL) and academic achievement, far fewer studies have examined the durability of these effects. This review synthesizes research on the lasting effects of 17 comprehensive SRL interventions on variables related to metacognition, cognition, motivation, and achievement in K-12 populations. Results reveal common patterns of design, domain-specificity, intervention complexity, and style of measurement instrument. Intervention effects tend to be durable regarding achievement and SRL but were mixed when presented across multiple measures of SRL. Overall findings imply that SRL interventions can lead to enduring effects on achievement and better …
