The Anchor: 1946
The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). As of Fall 2019 The Anchor has moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This study is an attempt to follow the development of the group of children who attended the Mental Hygiene Clinic Nursery School of Louisville, Kentucky in its first three years, September, 1939 through May, 1942. The children were studied on a comparative basis of their behavior in the two school situations - nursery school in 1939-1942 and elementary school in 1946. The study not only considers the child's behavior in the classroom, but also attempts to evaluate the effects at personality and environmental influences upon the child's school adjustment - his health, conditions in the home, and mental development. The …

The Court Of Appeals And Education In Kentucky, Wilbur Wade
The Court Of Appeals And Education In Kentucky, Wilbur Wade
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
The purpose of this investigation was to make a study of education in Kentucky, as interpreted by decisions handed down by the Court of Appeals, and to show how these decisions have helped to form our educational policies, and to trace these trends from the first decision of our wise old men to the present. The decisions of the Court of Appeals have helped legislators to formulate the school laws that have been passed and that will be passed in the future. There are too many decisions on education to be discussed at length. Therefore this investigation deals only with …

General University of Maine Publications
Libraries and archives collect materials from different cultures and time periods to preserve and make available the historical record. As a result, materials such as those presented here may reflect sexist, misogynistic, abusive, racist, or discriminatory attitudes or actions that some may find disturbing, harmful, or difficult to view.
Both a humor and literary magazine, The Pine Needle was a University of Maine periodical that began publication in the fall of 1946, the first post-World War II semester that saw GIs returning to campus.
While past student publications at UMaine relied on euphemisms for alcohol and dating on campus, The …

An Inquiry Into The Operation Of The Primary System Of New Mexico, Walter L. Mcnutt
Political Science ETDs
The purpose of this thesis is to examine the origin, enactment, and operation of the Direct Primary Code of New Mexico. What has been the effect of greater public participation in the selection of candidates? Has there been a change in the quality of individuals who now seek public office? Has the legislation improved under the law? What are the interests which are for or against the measure? These inquiries will be pursued in the pages that follow.
