On April 23, 1933, gambling on harness racing was first legalized in the State of New Hampshire. Rockingham Park opened for New England's first racing series with legalized gambling on June 21, 1933. On July 27, Grand Circuit Harness Racing returned to Rockingham Park with a 16-day meet.

Several books have been written about the various natural resources of the state of Kentucky. A number of excellent histories of the state have been published with descriptions of the pioneer and outlaw days when the state numbered its inhabitants by the very few thousands. The industrial, economic, and social activities of the Kentucky people have been written about for several years. But Kentucky literature has had practically no recognition. It is the purpose of this study to examine the early state-chartered banks of Kentucky: their creation, career and dissolution. To do this it will be necessary to survey the period of Kentucky history from 1802, when the Kentucky Insurance Company was awarded its charter by the Legislature and granted banking powers, to about 1830, when all previously chartered state banks had become non-existent or were in the process of liquidation. Throughout this period it will be necessary to notice the major political trends, events and problems. These, however, will be of secondary importance, and attention primarily will be centered …
