The Role Of The Minister In Psychotherapy, Samuel Schwartz
The Role Of The Minister In Psychotherapy, Samuel Schwartz
Master's Theses
why should the minister intrude on the field of psychotherapy? Physicians will say that many a pastor who has come into the sick-room has done the patient more harm than good. The solemn appearance of the "man of God" and his mournful players have set back many a recovery, they will tell you.
An Analysis Of Vocabulary Variables At The College Level, Betty Ann Allen
An Analysis Of Vocabulary Variables At The College Level, Betty Ann Allen
Master's Theses
The strength and growth of vocabulary is one or the decisive factors in successful college work. Educators find it helpful to evaluate not only the general vocabulary ability of the college student, but also the more specialized directions which the development of the student 's vocabulary may take.
The author's interest in this problem grew out of the results obtained with freshmen in the Westhampton College orientation program in September 1948. In working up the data from 119 freshmen 's scores on the Michigan Vocabulary Profile Test, results were such as to arouse interest in analysis of freshmen performance on …

A national consciousness of tho crippled and disabled had been awakened following World War I which culminated in the Veteran Rehabilitation Act. This was, actually, the forerunner of all later legislation meeting the popular demand tor a program available to all citizens, and which now reaches into all of the forty-eight states and the District of Columbia as well.as Alaska, Puerto Rico, and …
The Psychology Of Conversion, James Roy Smith
The Psychology Of Conversion, James Roy Smith
Master's Theses
The present study of conversion is approached through the medium of psychology, which, like the Christian religion, is extremely interested in human beings. Christianity owes to psychology a great debt of gratitude for the light which it has thrown upon the vast recesses of the human mind and upon the possibilities in the personality which Christianity would convert.
There has been no hesitation to employ whatever information psychology may offer concerning the processes at work in conversion, together with any technique which might serve to increase its likelihood. It is not the purpose of this thesis to champion the cause of …

The Virginia Retirement System, Julian Hutson Hill Jr.
The Virginia Retirement System, Julian Hutson Hill Jr.
Master's Theses
This thesis is written largely from knowledge obtained through two years of experience with the administration of the Virginia Retirement System. From this experience the author has attempted to provide the reader with a deeper insight into the operation of the Virginia Retirement System than otherwise might have been possible. In some instances it may appear that the treatment has become somewhat technical, but every attempt has been made to use language which is clear and nontechnical and still retain the original meaning of the Act. If the interpretation of the provisions of the Act has been altered in any …
A Christian Critique Of Totalitarianism, Clyde Norwood Parker
A Christian Critique Of Totalitarianism, Clyde Norwood Parker
Master's Theses
In presenting a subject of this kind it is evident that some limitations must be set. A full treatment of Totalitarianism would necessitate not only an examination of its various aspects as exemplified by the several nations of the world under Dictator rule today, but also some consideration of strong totalitarian tendencies in many of the so-called democracies of the world.
Likewise, Christianity is an all-inclusive term under which are many religious denominations with their individual organization and peculiar interpretation of the Christian Gospel. This makes it necessary to present A Christian Critique rather than ~Christian Critique.
Therefore, it shall …
The Evolution Of The Korean Family, Samuel Kendrick Dodson
The Evolution Of The Korean Family, Samuel Kendrick Dodson
Master's Theses
If the family is a fundamentally important factor in the economic, political, and social life of the nations of the West, much more i it in that of the nations of the Far East, China, Japan and Korea. Individualism as we know 1t in the West has had very little recognition there until very recent times. But every individual in all phases of' life was very· closely geared into the unit of the family, and all his thought and actions were determined by his relation to that unit. In this conception, China had set the pattern through hoary centuries of …
An Income Tax For Virginia, Warren A. Mcneill
An Income Tax For Virginia, Warren A. Mcneill
Master's Theses
Literature on the subject of the income tax has become so vast that to add something worthwhile to it seems almost a hopeless task. Men who have come authorities through years of reading and study in the field on taxation have set forth their views at length; commissions appointed by states and nations have made investigations and reported their findings, both as to the theory of the tax and its application; every fiscal report of the many nations and several states employing this form of levy is, in part, a document dealing with it. Supplementing these sources of materials are …
