This paper explored the implications of Twitter ban in Nigeria on economy, freedom of speech and information sharing. The study utilized mass media and legal documents to determine the opinion of the government officials, religious leaders, industrial experts, international organizations, legal experts and IT-based business specialists on the ban. The study empirically investigated the extent of utilization of social media for effective Library and Information Service delivery in selected university libraries in Abia State, Nigeria. five research questions guided the study. Purpose –This study investigated factors affect the use of Twitter by Pakistani journalists and to what extent Twitter usage impact on their job performance.

Design/methodology/approach –This study opted for a quantitative survey research design. The theoretical lens used in this study was the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), extended to include the impact of Twitter usage on job performance. A pilot-tested structured questionnaire was used to collect data from the journalists working in the mainstream media houses of Pakistan.

This article analyses the articles on Phytochemistry Literature with the tools of Altmetric. For this study, 10 articles on phytochemistry literature were taken for the analysis. This study also compares the Citations received by a publication against the Altmetric score. The study shows that the most of the Publications are shared by the social media Twitter. Moreover readers prefer to read the articles through Reference Manager Mendeley. The study discovers that there is a moderate correlation between Citation and Altmetric Score. Only one paper obtains citation and Altmetric score equally. Another paper gets citation and Altmetric score in near equal. …

Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of the study is to know the awareness, usage, and impact of web 2.0 tools on the health of general public.

Design/methodology/approach: Questioners were prepared and distributed among the departments under applied sciences of the University of Kashmir. Simple random sampling technique was employed.

Tweets Of An Article And Its Citation: An Altmetric Study Of Most Prolific Authors, S S. Ravikumar, Baiakmenlang Khonglam

The present study was carried to find out the association between twitter and citation pattern for scholarly articles. This study was carried out with the most prolific authors of 2014 from the four subject domain “Clinical medicine, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, and Neuroscience” and 4886 papers were identified to studied their tweets and citation counts. From the study, it was found that the articles of the most prolific authors have a strong correlation with the citation and its value ρ =.518**. The linear relationship for individual subjects was between .386** to .559**, significant at .01 level.

The study explored the spell of social media among M.Phil and PhD scholars of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan. Researchers’ usage purposes of five social media were asked. Responses were analyzed quantitatively. Maximum (58%) respondents were highly familiar with social media. Facebook was at the top. Researchers strongly agreed that they use Facebook for interaction with friends, Twitter for enhancing social presence, Google + for identifying the popular topics, Linked In for getting job opportunities, and Blogger for getting fame.
