This study decsribesa potential offluid pressure in micro hydromechanical deep drawingto achieve high formability. The FE simulation is carried out using the stainless steel foil with 50μm thickness. The friction holding effect can be obtained by applying the fluid pressure and it becomes high at high D p/t in MHDD. By applying the counter and radial pressure in MHDD, the desired lubrication condition can be obtained and the friction force can be reduced. By the friction holding effect and lubrication effect in MHDD, the micro cups can be successful fabricated in MHDD. Consequently, it is clarify that the fluid pressure …

A Study Of Plastic Deformation Behavior During High Pressure Torsion Process By Crystal Plasticity Finite Element Simulation, Peitang Wei, Cheng Lu, A K. Tieu, Guanyu Deng

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

High pressure torsion (HPT) is an efficient technique of producing ultrafine grained materials with exceptional small grain size. In this study, a crystal plasticity finite element method (CPFEM) model has been developed to investigate the plastic deformation behavior of pure aluminum single crystal during the HPT process. The simulation results show that, the distribution and evolution of the macroscopic plastic strain and the accumulative shear strain are similar. The value increases with the increase of the distance from the center as well as the number of revolution. The simulation is capable of reflecting the anisotropic characteristics of HPT deformation, a …

Analytical Solutions For Filtration Process Based On The Constriction Size Concept, Buddhima Indraratna, Cholachat Rujikiatkamjorn, Vo Trong Nguyen, Ashok Raut

In this paper, an analytical model was proposed to describe the filtration process applicable to a base soil-filter system. The Navier-Stokes equation for porous media was used to capture the hydrodynamic behavior, while numerically a new algorithm has been proposed to solve the Navier-Stokes equation in non-linear form. The various mixtures of base particles eroded and water flow within the system was computed using the work-energy principle incorporating the constriction size of the filter. The model can assess the filtration process through the flow rate, and the accumulation and erosion of base soil within the filter. By discretising the base …

Toward Resource Recovery From Wastewater: Phosphorus Extraction From Digested Sludge Using Hybrid Forward Osmosis - Membrane Distillation Process, Ming Xie, Long D. Nghiem, William E. Price, Menachem Elimelech

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

We demonstrate the simultaneous extraction of phosphorus and clean water from digested sludge centrate using a forward osmosis (FO)−membrane distillation (MD) hybrid process. In this FO−MD hybrid process, FO concentrates orthophosphate and ammonium for subsequent phosphorus recovery in the form of struvite (MgNH4PO4·6H2O), while MD is used to recover the draw solution and extract clean water from the digested sludge centrate. A decline in water flux was observed during the FO process, but fouling was largely reversible after a brief, simple membrane flushing using deionized water. The FO process also provides an effective pretreatment capacity to the subsequent MD process, …

Optimization And Application Of Process Parameters In An Az61 Alloy Twin-Roll Strip Casting, Jintao Li, Guangming Xu, Hailiang Yu, Lihong Su, Guanyu Deng, Cheng Lu, Lizi He, Huijun Li

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

Twin-roll strip casting is a concerned technology for economically producing magnesium alloys sheets. In this paper, numerical simulation of the twin-roll strip casting of an AZ61 magnesium alloy was carried out and the optimal process parameters were obtained. Then, under the conditions obtained through simulation, AZ61 strips of good surface quality were successfully manufactured. The microstructure of the alloy by twin-rolled strip casting is obvious refined compared with that by conventional casting.
