Then it will briefly review the jurisidiction of municipal courts, the selection of municipal court judges, and municipal court penalties. With the filing on March 28 of a proposed metropolitan government charter, Nashville and Davidson County have moved one step closer toward creating a new species of local government, one that is distinctly metropolitan in its design. The metropolitan charter, to be voted on June 17, would abolish the City of Nashville and Davidson County and consolidate their functions in a single "Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County."
