Hi, I’m Kathleen. I have worked as an academic librarian at Sheridan College in Ontario, Canada for the past 13 years. In my role, I help International and domestic students find, evaluate, and use information sources ethically for their research assignments.

This qualitative study was to understand Register Early Childhood Educators (RECE) perspectives and beliefs about risky play in outdoor childcare settings. The researcher conducted five semi-structured interviews to gain insight and provide a voice for RECEs to share their examples and opinions about risky play. Based on the analysis of the data collected the researcher found five main themes; benefits to skill development for young children, safety, educators’ values and beliefs, educators’ opinions on parents’ views and the outdoor environment. This study examined the observations and experiences of parents whose children receive additional outdoor play time in a Forest School setting. The researchers used a qualitative methodology with online narrative interviews of 15 questions; participants took approximately 15 minutes to complete. 22 parents whose children attended two Forest Schools (one in the Region of Waterloo and one in Wellington County) completed the interviews. In this quantitative study, the purpose was to explore the factors that prevent parents of children aged 0-12 in the Region of Peel from enrolling their children into extracurricular activities. This was explored through the sub-themes of parent’s perceived benefits of extracurricular activities, parental influences, and income as a factor. Through these themes, it helped answer the main research question of, “What are the factors that prevent parents from enrolling young children into extracurricular activities?” The number of participants that helped answer this research question were 30 (n=30). The teaching profession is recognized to be one of the most stressful fields worldwide (Lhospital & Gregory, 2009). This qualitative study was conducted to explore the different stresses of early childhood professionals in the workplace and further explored to see if there is a difference between general and special educators’ stress. 14 individuals participated in one-on-one interviews, 7 general educators and 7 special educators.
