Mobile Dm Coupon Promotion In Japan: A Case Study On Response Behavior Changes In Services Consumptiona, Fumiyo Kondo, Yasuhiro Uwadaira, Mariko Nakahara, Shahriar Akter

Shahriar Akter

This chapter investigates the changes in customers' responses to mobile direct mail (DM) coupons on the shop visit probability (SVP) of a beauty parlor. Two experiments were carried out to examine the promotional effects of mobile DM coupons. The first experiment, conducted in 2004, compared mobile DM coupons with postcard DM coupons. The mobile DM coupons were found to have no effect on SVP, although positive effects were observed for postcard DM coupons. The second experiment, conducted in 2005 with three types of mobile DM coupons, compared the responses of new customers with those of repeat customers. The results varied …

Approaches To Dog Health Education Programs In Australian Rural And Remote Indigenous Communities: Four Case Studies, S Constable, R Dixon, R Dixon, J Toribio Nov 2014

Approaches To Dog Health Education Programs In Australian Rural And Remote Indigenous Communities: Four Case Studies, S Constable, R Dixon, R Dixon, J Toribio

Rose Dixon

Dog health in rural and remote Australian Indigenous communities is below urban averages in numerous respects. Many Indigenous communities have called for knowledge sharing in this area. However, dog health education programs are in their infancy, and lack data on effective practices. Without this core knowledge, health promotion efforts cannot progress effectively. This paper discusses a strategy that draws from successful approaches in human health and indigenous education, such as dadirri, and culturally respectful community engagement and development. Negotiating an appropriate education program is explored in its practical application through four case studies. Though each case was unique, the comparison …

The Local Index Formula In Semifinite Von Neumann Algebras Ii: The Even Case, Alan Carey, John Phillips, Adam Rennie, F Sukochev Oct 2013

The Local Index Formula In Semifinite Von Neumann Algebras Ii: The Even Case, Alan Carey, John Phillips, Adam Rennie, F Sukochev

Associate Professor Adam Rennie

We generalise the even local index formula of Connes and Moscovici to the case of spectral triples for a ∗-subalgebra A of a general semifinite von Neumann algebra. The proof is a variant of that for the odd case which appears in Part I. To allow for algebras with a non-trivial centre we have to establish a theory of unbounded Fredholm operators in a general semifinite von Neumann algebra and in particular prove a generalised McKean-Singer formula.

Statistical Indicators For Local Government Areas: A Case Study Of The Shoalhaven Lga, 1997, Nell Stetner-Houweling, David Steel, Greg Pullen Jun 2013

Statistical Indicators For Local Government Areas: A Case Study Of The Shoalhaven Lga, 1997, Nell Stetner-Houweling, David Steel, Greg Pullen

Professor David Steel

Decision makers and planers need to have relevant and reliable information to give a picture of how different areas are developing economically and socially. However, there is a perceived lack of timely and easily accessible data at the Local Government Area (LGA) level. This study produced a statistical profile of the Shoalhaven (LGA) by developing a conceptual framework, which represents the key economic, social, and population characteristics of the LGA. The statistical data available from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) at the level of the LGA, was investigated and summarised. Other sources of information available to create a statistical …

The Case Study Methodology In Place Management Research And Practice, Gregory Kerr, Gary Noble, John Glynn Feb 2013

The Case Study Methodology In Place Management Research And Practice, Gregory Kerr, Gary Noble, John Glynn

John J Glynn

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to assist those in the relatively new field of place management to undertake sound and appropriate research for which there is a current need. Approach: This paper identifies and provides an interpretation of key terms associated with research in the social and behavioural sciences and then recommends the case study methodology as being appropriate for research in place management. Findings: Based on a review of the literature this paper offers a viewpoint about the meaning and application of the terms ‘methodology’, ‘methods,’ ‘ways’, ‘strategies’ and ‘approaches’ when they are applied to research. Research …

Customer Satisfaction Measurement For State Owned Banks In Least Developed Countries- A Case Of Bangladesh, Muhammad Khondaker, Monir Mir Feb 2013

Customer Satisfaction Measurement For State Owned Banks In Least Developed Countries- A Case Of Bangladesh, Muhammad Khondaker, Monir Mir

Muhammad S Khondaker

Customer Satisfaction has become an important dimension for performance measurement particularly for banking and finance industry. As most banks and finance organizations offer similar products and services, improving customer satisfaction and loyalty is the most important factor in maintaining as well as increasing market share for these organizations. Customer satisfaction is grossly neglected area for performance measurement in most Least Developed Countries (LDCs) including Bangladesh. Like most LDCs, Bangladesh is also facing external pressures from IMF, World Bank, ADB etc for reforming incompetent financial sector. The purpose of the paper is to identify the factors that affect and explain customer …

Case Study On The Pattern Change In Arabidopsis Thaliana Intron Sequence, Ren Zhang, Rachel Caldwell, Yan-Xia Lin, Jinda Kongcharoen, Yiren Yang Nov 2012

Case Study On The Pattern Change In Arabidopsis Thaliana Intron Sequence, Ren Zhang, Rachel Caldwell, Yan-Xia Lin, Jinda Kongcharoen, Yiren Yang

Associate Professor Yan-Xia Lin

A large portion in eukaryotic genomes is introns but their function is not yet fully elucidated. The aims of this study are to employ the generalized Bernoulli modeling approach to estimate the change points based on GC distribution in intron sequences of Arabidopsis thaliana and to investigate whether there is any correlation between gene properties (the gene expression level and the protein function) and these intron pattern changes. The influence of the intron length and the number of GC on the intron sequence pattern changes is demonstrated. Among the random sampled intron sequences, 10.71% have been identified to have pattern …

Interrogating The Politics Of Gay/Lesbian Belonging In An Australian Country Town: A Case Study Of Daylesford, Victoria, And Local Responses To The Chillout Festival, Andrew Gorman-Murray, Gordon Waitt, Christopher Gibson Sep 2012

Interrogating The Politics Of Gay/Lesbian Belonging In An Australian Country Town: A Case Study Of Daylesford, Victoria, And Local Responses To The Chillout Festival, Andrew Gorman-Murray, Gordon Waitt, Christopher Gibson

Chris Gibson

This paper examines the nature of gasy/lesbian belonging in Daylesford, an Australian country town, contributing to work on both gay/lesbian rural geographies and the politics of belonging. Daylesford hosts ChillOut, Australia's largest rural gay/lesbian festival, thus providing an apt lens for investigating gay/lesbian belonging in rural Australia. The festival, per se, is not analyzed, but instead local responses to ChillOut are interrogated below, particularly certain outcomes and debates following the 2006 festival. This paper begins with a discussion of the notions of belonging and the politics of belonging, and how these relate to gay/lesbian lives. This is followed by …
