Since 2008 EIU has been digitizing ETDs and making them available via the library catalog, I-Share (the state of IL consortia catalog), and WorldCat. It was only after ETDs were included in the institutional repository (The Keep) that the majority of faculty became fully aware of how accessible these theses had become. This dawning realization led to important conversations with faculty and other stakeholders about concerns regarding publishing, grant approval, and patents. Following these discussions new embargo policies and workflows were developed. This presentation was part of a staff workshop focused on empirical methods and applied research. This includes a basic overview of regression with matrix algebra, maximum likelihood, inference, and model assumptions. Distinctions are made between paradigms related to classical statistical methods and algorithmic approaches. The presentation concludes with a brief discussion of generalization error, data partitioning, decision trees, and neural networks.

EKU Libraries is in its fourth year of providing an Instant Messaging reference service. We have seen our statistics increase over that time as we have made changes to the way we offer our service, especially when we added the Meebome widgets throughout the website. Recently, EKU Libraries implemented a new IM platform in order to extend the way we provide online reference help. LibraryH3lp offers simultaneous logins, queues to send questions to librarians with appropriate subject specialties, and a seamless integration with our existing Meebome widgets.
