Selected Social Stratification Factors And The Self Concept As Contingencies In College Persistence And Persistence In College Program Choice, Arnold J. Menning
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This research study developed from a continuing interest by the writer in the various factors associated with student college persistence and stability of program choice. Institutions of higher learning are becoming increasingly concerned in these times of declining enrollments about the need for greater congruence between institutional planning and the services provided to the potential and enrolled student body. Relationships between selected (1) socioeconomic, academic, and self concept variables and (2) college persistence and stability of program choice were investigated in this study. The research was centered around the view of the self as a phenomenal self. Reference group theory …
The Effects Of Overcrowded Housing On The Academic Performance Of Student Populations, John D. Turner
The Effects Of Overcrowded Housing On The Academic Performance Of Student Populations, John D. Turner
University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations
In the spring and summer of every year the housing offices of many colleges and universities seek to prepare for the fall term. In colleges with increasing enrollments often a problem exists in housing all the students who have applied for housing. This problem is further complicated in colleges and universities where residency on campus is considered to be an integral part of the objectives and philosophy surrounding their educational offering.

A Comparison Of Incarcerated And Non-Incarcerated Women Based On The M.M.P.I., Rose Marie Carter
A Comparison Of Incarcerated And Non-Incarcerated Women Based On The M.M.P.I., Rose Marie Carter
Masters Theses
The field for research on women offenders provides an extensive opportunity for scientific investigation. Many writers (Gibbons, 1971; Cunningham, 1964; Sutherland, 1968) have discussed the causes of crime and their resulting social implications. Organized mass presentations of the movement of crime among women is negligible. Today female incarcerates make up approximately 11 per cent (Lerner, 1972) of the total number in state and federal penitentiaries. Previous research (Cunningham, 1964) on female felons found poor self-concept, excessive dependency and pathological emotionality to be a consistent pattern in women criminals. Other research (Apfeldorf, 1971; Guze, 1959) found criminal and non-criminal groups could …
Homosexual Recall Of Parent-Child Relationships: A Sampling Problem?, Tim J. Cain
Homosexual Recall Of Parent-Child Relationships: A Sampling Problem?, Tim J. Cain
Masters Theses
The purpose of this study was to try to determine whether or not the way that a homosexual recalled his parent child relationships might be a function of the population from which he was drawn.
The primary hypothesis of this paper was that attitudes would not differ significantly between homosexual and heterosexual groups. A secondary hypothesis was that attitudes would not differ significantly between groups in each area covered; therapy, social action, and non-social action.
Sixty male homosexuals and 60 male heterosexuals volunteered to participate in this study.
