Carillon Brass, a quintet from the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, will present a free concert at noon March 14 in the Dixon Ministry Center Recital Hall. Charles Pagnard, the group’s principal trumpet and a Cedarville professor, said the program will include a wide variety of music, from classical to contemporary works.

Zach Schneider, a senior from Cedarville University, won the App competition sponsored by V.I.P. Waste Services of Columbus, Ohio.
The competition was created by Jesse Lear and Travis Smith, co-founders of V.I.P. Waste Services, after graduating from Cedarville. In an attempt to gain intellectual support for their business, they created the competition among Cedarville students — regardless of academic major. The goal was to create the best mobile application that solves operational challenges in their business.

Watercolor artist Chuck Clevenger will present a free “concert-tableau,” or pictorial concert, on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 12-noon in the Dixon Ministry Center Recital Hall. Clevenger, also a concert pianist and a senior professor of music at Cedarville University, will perform five pieces of classical music that connect with five watercolor paintings created for the occasion.

Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, Jr, and James Meredith are well-remembered as pillars of the American Civil Rights movement. These leaders, and some lesser-known pioneers in African-American history will be honored during a program on Wednesday, Feb. 26, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in Cedarville University’s Center for Biblical and Theological Studies. The program, sponsored by student life and the office of admissions, will celebrate “The Unsung Heroes of the Black Community.”
