A Study Of The Collection Development And Usage Of Vinyl Albums At Huntingdon College From 1970 To The Present, Daniel N. Dubei
The Southeastern Librarian
The author reviews the history of collection development of the vinyl collection at Huntingdon College. With interviews from current and former faculty and staff, the author shows how donations of vinyl al-bums helped propel the extensive quantity of albums. The author discusses how the collection circulated throughout the 1970s to the 1990s, when CDs arrived on the scene. The quick transition to digital streaming along with short staffing has caused these vinyl albums to sit, neglected in a classroom, un-used for decades. The vinyl collection also does not have enough cataloging data for easy discoverability and circulation. The author collaborated …

Inclusive Publishing Strategies For Journal Staff And Prospective Authors In The Digital Humanities, Rachel Schrauben Yeates
Master's Projects
In this project, I will share the inclusive strategies and solutions to common pitfalls I observed in my exploratory review of a selection of DH online journals and share Inclusivity Guides tailored to journal staff and prospective authors to perform a quick audit of journal site design and content. I paid special attention to the information available to researchers considering submitting their work for publication. Which journals leave a good impression and provide potential authors with enough information to confidently submit their work? How can prospective authors assess a journal’s commitment to furthering and practicing inclusivity in their field, and …

Library Anxiety: How Elements Of Morrison’S Fourth Place And The Fast Casual Approach From The Restaurant Industry May Make The Academic Library Space More Inviting, Tara J. Kunesh
Georgia Library Quarterly
The concept of library anxiety was introduced by Constance Mellon in 1986. Since then, studies have attempted to shed light upon this phenomenon to mitigate the feelings of apprehension students may feel when utilizing the academic library space or when seeking the professional help of librarians. This literature review examines the literature and, specifically, discusses whether it is possible to configure the physical library space in a more inviting way. It highlights sociology of space theories as well as concepts behind the fast casual movement employed by the restaurant industry as possible routes to improvement.
