Higher design education in India is not recognized as one of the major educational pathways, which has led to a system in which both public and private institutions offer design degrees without reference to fixed standards of curriculum and uniformity. There is also a lack of publicly available information and knowledge about design schools along with the immense complexity and diversity within the offerings of different design programs at various institutions (Coyle, Lotten, & Dubber, 2015). We are at the cusp of what Ray Kurzweil, Google’s director of engineering, called the “age of acceleration,” where globalization, technology, and financial markets instill a need for newer, better, faster products and services (Friedman, 2016: 187).
