Roads exist as a physical and theoretical connection between people and places around the globe. In addition to providing a route from one point to another, roads are also an indicator of access to markets and of poverty. However, current road datasets, particularly the Global Roads Open Access Data Set, are out of date or incomplete, necessitating new sources of data for analyses involving road networks. This study explores the relationship between climate change and access to markets in Nepal. In this paper I explore the relationship between foreign direct investment (FDI) and deforestation in Cambodia. Through an event study framework, I show that economic land concessions have a negative relationship with tree cover, over time, having stronger and stronger negative effects. This relationship is more pronounced in foreign economic land concessions when compared to domestic economic land concessions. Through the use of a difference in differences research design I examine the relationship between foreign and domestic concessions through the implementation of a ELC concession ban. The practice of spatializing culture, or “examining space through theories of embodiment, discourse translocality, and effect,” localizes the global and separates hegemonic narratives of space from how it is actually utilized by the people who interact with it. Setha Low argues that this perspective is especially useful to the anthropologist committed to challenging the discipline’s historically eurocentric approach to studying culture. This paper analyzes the impact that geography has through the scope of determinism on professional football within the last 20 years. Fox Sports personality Colin Cowherd suggested the idea of determinism in football in 2017, and this project follows up on the idea that weather and climate specifically will be determinant factors in the success of an NFL franchise. Multiple demographic, economic, and climatic factors were selected to examine which factors are determinant in NFL franchise success. "To Hold The World Together": A Uinta Basin Homesteading History, 1905-1930, Casey Mcclellan

The Uinta Basin’s history differs from much of Utah. Its early explorer report as a “wasteland” meant Mormon settlers avoided the area, which made an expedient decision to put the land aside as the Uinta-Ouray Ute Indian Reservation. Native peoples were forced to the undesirable desert in the mid-1860s. In 1905, the United States Government opened the Reservation for White homesteading. Homesteading was difficult, and countless anecdotes show the difficulties—many settlers moved away, “selling out” (giving up on their homesteads and selling to another homesteader) their newly-acquired land and returning to greener pastures. For this study, the human development measures for Japan and Thailand are compared based on Life Expectancy, Literacy Rates, and Gross Domestic Product (per capita) measures. American Kestrel (Falco sparverius) populations have been fluctuating throughout the United States. A primary focus in studying these birds has been on the decline of the small raptor along the East Coast of the United States. This project focuses on the American Kestrel populations within Washington State between 2005 and 2011. The goal of this project was to determine whether or not the trend in Washington are similar to those along the East Coast. In this thesis, I am examining how East Tennessee State Normal School in East Tennessee and Appalachian State Normal School in Western North Carolina interpreted progressive education differently in their states. This difference is that East Tennessee State began as a state funded school to educate future teachers therefore their school and their curriculum was more rounded and set to a structured schedule. Appalachian State Normal School was initially founded to educate the uneducated in the “lost provinces” therefore, curriculum was even more progressive than East Tennessee State’s – based strongly on the practices of farming, woodworking, and other practical …
