This paper discusses the development of social entrepreneurship empowerment for individuals with lupus and limitations in vision through Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), defined based on identifying their substantial aspects. After defining the characteristics of conditions of individuals with disadvantaged health, such as lupus and low vision, an ABCD approach is developed. The approach is planned within the framework of business development using digital media, carrying out five key steps—Discovery, Dream, Design, Define, and Destiny. Many infectious disease models build upon the classic Susceptible-Infected-Recovered (SIR) model, a compartmental system that is used to simulate disease transmission in a population. The SIR model focuses on the transmission of disease but rarely includes behavioral or informational components that explore how disease perception influences transmission. In this paper, we propose a six-compartment behavioral SIR model that further segments the classic SIR system based on knowledge of information about the disease, and we explore how sharing information affects disease transmission. Aims:

Some is known from studies on burn animal models. Burn patients can develop intracranial hypertension. The aim of study is to evaluate feasibility of non-invasive methods for the diagnosis of intracranial hypertension.

Methods:

Burns patients were enrolled and studied through ultrasound measurement of optic nerve sheath diameter and transcranial Doppler.

Results:

In the 20 patients studied, no pathological values were identified without correlations with the extension of the burn.

Conclusions:

Starting from animal models, it is legitimate to suspect an underestimation of neuro-complications. The study demonstrates that these methods are applicable to this population, representing an effective method reducing …

The topic of responsible gambling has been the focus of debate over recent years. Unfortunately the language surrounding responsible gambling has proven ineffective, due to varying definitions and debate over stigma related to responsibility. This paper discusses the importance of language in communicating about consumer protection and harm minimization to the public. Three key areas of discussion are highlighted: 1) decoupling responsible gambling and problem gambling to reduce the barrier of stigma; 2) redefining responsible gambling, and 3) the need for conversations amongst peers and parents, all with the view to proactively prevent gambling-related harms.

This study examines the levels of Media and Information Literacy (MIL) among underprivileged communities, shedding light on their digital literacy and online behaviour. Rooted in the UNESCO Media and Information Literacy framework, focusing on specific dimensions of MIL, with an emphasis on assessing the ability to retrieve, critically evaluate, and manage information. 366 participants among the targeted community were involved, where survey instruments aligned with MIL principles were adopted in identifying the strength and areas for improvement for the targeted underprivileged community. Much attention has been paid to the contributions of media literacy to children and adolescent development in most developed countries. This study adopted a non-equivalent control type of quasi-experimental research design involving the experimental and control groups. The sample size for the study was 90 learners drawn from all public adult and vocational education centres across Nigeria. Safeguarding personal digital data is crucial and requires appropriate training. However, privacy remains a novel topic, leaving teachers with limited guidance. This study investigates how elementary school students perceive personal data and assesses pre-service teachers’ accuracy in predicting children’s responses. Employing Nissenbaum’s contextual integrity framework, the outcomes of this research offer a nuanced perspective on privacy, considering different recipients and data types. Several studies have shown the effect of information activism and microinterventions, such as I Am Here International, the Elves and #NAFO to combat information disorder and hate online. Nevertheless, microinterventions have yet to be conceptualised in promoting media and information literacy (MIL) and informational resilience. This study positions microinterventions as information activism tools and empirically tests microinterventions in the context of higher education. Background: Prolonged hospital stays after pediatric surgeries, such as tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy, pose significant concerns regarding cost and patient care. Dissecting the determinants of extended hospitalization is crucial for optimizing postoperative care and resource allocation. Objective: This study aims to utilize machine learning (ML) techniques to predict post-surgery discharge times in pediatric patients and identify key variables influencing hospital stays. Background: Establishing peripheral intravenous access can be challenging, often resulting in care delays, increased complications, and higher healthcare costs. While ultrasound-guided techniques have shown potential in improving success rates and reducing complications, their utilization by nurses varies significantly. Aim: This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and utilization of ultrasound for difficult peripheral venous access among nurses at an Italian university hospital.
