Print journal collection development has long been one of the traditional roles of academic librarians. However, in the last 20 years or so, print journal ownership has declined and online journal access has taken its place; both due to growing concerns with flat or declining budgets as well as a lack of space and the need to repurpose this limited space. Pittsburg State University’s (PSU) Axe Library faced the challenge of balancing our print and electronic serials collections at a university whose programs sometimes do not draw enough on library resources.
