Index of Texas Archaeology: Open Access Gray Literature from the Lone Star State

A ground-penetrating radar (GPR) investigation was conducted by members of the Archeology Division of the Texas Historical Commission at the Alamo Mission in San Antonio, Texas on December 2, 2015. The purpose of the survey was to determine whether GPR is a suitable technology for mapping subsurface features on the site in advance of future archeological investigations or development. Nine separate GPR grids were surveyed to provide a broad sample of the areas that may retain buried historical features. The General Land Office of Texas owns and manages the Alamo. (CP&Y), to conduct a cultural resources inventory survey and assessment for the proposed E-19 Wastewater Project, Segment 2, in northeastern San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas. The proposed undertaking would involve a combination of replacement of an existing gravity wastewater pipeline as well as new construction. In the fall of 2016, Raba Kistner Environmental Inc. (RKEI) contracted with K Friese & Associates (CLIENT) to monitor the installation of a San Antonio Water System (SAWS) waterline along Cunningham Avenue (Ave.), between Broadway Street (St.) and N. Pine St., along the northern fence line of Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston (JBSA-FSH) and the old Playland Park property. SAWS plans to install waterlines along four distinct locations surrounding JBSA-FSH. Of the four proposed waterlines, only one waterline has the potential of impacting a recorded archaeological site. On August 31, 2017, personnel from Prewitt and Associates, Inc., conducted an intensive archeological survey on Culebra Creek in west-central San Antonio, Texas, for Adams Environmental, Inc., and the City of San Antonio under Texas Antiquities Permit No. 8145. This work was completed prior to proposed channel improvements below existing bridges at Culebra Road and Timber Path. The horizontal Area of Potential Effects (APE) for the project is 10.6 acres of city-owned property composed of 1.7 acres at Culebra Road and 8.9 acres downstream at Timber Path. At the request of Blue Skies of Texas, an intensive archaeological survey was conducted by Pape-Dawson for the proposed W.T. Montgomery Water Main project located near the City of San Antonio in Bexar County, Texas. The project will entail the installation of approximately 1,600 feet (ft) (488 meters [m]) of new water line within a 40-ft (12.2-m) wide easement. The project area will extend along the western side of W.T. Montgomery Road and will then cross U.S. Highway 90 (US 90). Terracon archaeologists carried out a modified intensive survey consisting of backhoe trench excavations on behalf of City Public Service (CPS) in northern Downtown San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas. At this location, CPS plans to construct a multi-level parking garage and renovate existing buildings. As CPS is a publicly owned utility company, ground disturbing work on the property is under the purview of the Antiquities Code of Texas. Accordingly, archaeological investigations were performed under Antiquities Permit No. 7859, issued to David Yelacic.

Gonzalez Convention Center Expansion Project, to perform archaeological investigations and monitoring associated with the installation of a gas line and gas tie-in within the boundaries of the Convention Center. The proposed gas line route had the potential to encounter a Spanish Colonial acequia, known as the Acequia Madre de Valero or the Acequia Madre del Valero (41BX8).
