We report on the first search for electron-muon lepton flavor violation (LFV) in the decay of a b quark and b antiquark bound state. We look for the LFV decay ϒ(3S) → e ± μ in a sample of 118 million ϒ(3S) mesons from 27 fb−1 of data collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC PEP-II e+e collider operating with a 10.36 GeV center-of-mass energy. No evidence for a signal is found, and we set a limit on the branching fraction B[ϒ(3S) → e ± μ]< 3.6 × 10−7 …

We study the processes γγ → ηc → η'K+K, η'π+π, and ηπ+π using a data sample of 519 fb−1 recorded with the BABAR detector operating at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+e collider at center-of-mass energies at and near the ϒ(nS) (n = 2, 3, 4) resonances. We present a measurement of Rk+ , the branching fraction ratio B(B → K+μ+μ)=B(B → K*e+e),, for both charged and neutral B mesons. The ratio for the charged case R K* + is the first measurement ever performed. In addition, we report absolute branching fractions for the individual modes in bins of the squared dilepton invariant mass q2. We measure the time-dependent CPviolation parameters in B0 → K0 S K0 S K0 S decays using 772 × 106 BB̅ pairs collected at the ϒ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e collider. The obtained mixing-induced and direct CP asymmetries are −0.71 ± 0.23 (stat) ± 0.05 (syst) and 0.12 ± 0.16 (stat) ± 0.05 (syst), respectively. These values are consistent with the Standard Model predictions. The significance of CP violation differs from zero by 2.5 standard deviations.

We measure the time-dependent CP violation parameters in B0 → K0 S K0 S K0 S decays using 772 × 106 BB̅ pairs collected at the ϒ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e collider. The obtained mixing-induced and direct CP asymmetries are −0.71 ± 0.23 (stat) ± 0.05 (syst) and 0.12 ± 0.16 (stat) 0.05 (syst), respectively. These values are consistent with the Standard Model predictions. The significance of CP violation differs from zero by 2.5 standard deviations.

We present the first measurements of branching fractions of rare tau-lepton decays, τ−→π−ντℓ+ℓ− (ℓ=e or μ), using a data sample corresponding to 562 fb−1 collected at a center-of-mass energy of 10.58 GeV with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+ecollider. The τ−→πντe+e decay is observed for the first time with 7.0σ significance. The partial branching fraction determined by the structure-dependent mechanisms mediated by either a vector or an axial-vector current for the mass region Mπee > 1.05 GeV=c2 is measured to be B(τ → π …

An angular analysis of the decay B̅ → D ∗ ℓ − v̅ ℓ , ℓ ∈ { e , μ } , is reported using the full e +e collision data set collected by the BABAR experiment at the Υ (4S) resonance. One B meson from the Υ (4S) → B B̅ decay is fully reconstructed in a hadronic decay mode, which constrains the kinematics and provides a determination of the neutrino momentum vector. The decay τ−→K−KSντ has been studied using 430 × 106 e+e− → τ+τ events produced at a center-of-mass energy around 10.6 GeV at the PEP-II collider and studied with the BABAR detector. The mass spectrum of the K−KS system has been measured and the spectral function has been obtained. The measured branching fraction B(τ− → K−KSντ) =(0.739 ± 0.011(stat) ± 0.020(syst)) × 10−3 is found to be in agreement with earlier measurements.
