The branching fractions of the decays B+ηl+νl and B+ηl+νl are measured, where l is either an electron or a muon, using a data sample of 711 fb−1 containing 772 × 106 BB̅ pairs collected at the ϒ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e collider. Axionlike particles (ALPs) are predicted in many extensions of the standard model, and their masses can naturally be well below the electroweak scale. In the presence of couplings to electroweak bosons, these particles could be emitted in flavor-changing B meson decays. We report herein a search for an ALP, a, in the reaction B ±→K ± a, aγ γ using data collected by the BABAR experiment at SLAC. No significant signal is observed, and 90% confidence level upper limits on the ALP coupling to electroweak bosons are derived as a function of ALP mass, improving current …

The process e+e→ π+ππ0γ is studied at a center-of-mass energy near the ϒ(4S) resonance using a data sample of 469 fb−1 collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II collider. We have performed a precise measurement of the e+eπ+ππ0 cross section in the center-of-mass energy range from 0.62 to 3.5 GeV. In the energy regions of theω and ϕ resonances, the cross section is measured with a systematic uncertainty of 1.3%. The leading-order hadronic contribution to the …

We measure the time-dependent CPviolation parameters in B0 → K0 S K0 S K0 S decays using 772 × 106 BB̅ pairs collected at the ϒ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+e collider. The obtained mixing-induced and direct CP asymmetries are −0.71 ± 0.23 (stat) ± 0.05 (syst) and 0.12 ± 0.16 (stat) ± 0.05 (syst), respectively. These values are consistent with the Standard Model predictions. The significance of CP violation differs from zero by 2.5 standard deviations.

Many scenarios of physics beyond the standard model predict the existence of new gauge singlets, which might be substantially lighter than the weak scale. The experimental constraints on additional scalars with masses in the MeV to GeV range could be significantly weakened if they interact predominantly with leptons rather than quarks. At an e+e collider, such a leptophilic scalar (ϕL) would be produced predominantly through radiation from a τ lepton. We report herein a search for e+e→ τ+τϕL, ϕL → l+l (l = …

We present a search for the direct production of a light pseudoscalar a decaying into two photons with the Belle II detector at the SuperKEKB collider. We search for the process e+eγa, aγγ in the mass range 0.2 < ma < 9.7 GeV/c2 using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of (445± 3) pb−1. Light pseudoscalars interacting predominantly with standard model gauge bosons (so-called axionlike particles or ALPs) are frequently postulated in extensions of the standard model. We find no evidence for ALPs and set 95% confidence level upper limits on the coupling …

Theories beyond the standard model often predict the existence of an additional neutral boson, the Z'. Using data collected by the Belle II experiment during 2018 at the SuperKEKB collider, we perform the first searches for the invisible decay of a Z' e+e→μ+μZ′ and of a lepton-flavor-violating Z' in e+e→e±μZ′. We do not find any excess of events and set 90% credibility level upper limits on the cross sections of these processes. We translate the former, in the framework of an Lμ−L …

We report measurements of the production cross sections of charged pions, kaons, and protons as a function of fractional energy, the event-shape variable called thrust, and the transverse momentum with respect to the thrust axis. These measurements access the transverse momenta created in the fragmentation process, which are of critical importance to the understanding of any transverse-momentum-dependent distribution and fragmentation functions. The low transverse-momentum part of the cross sections can be well described by Gaussians in transverse momentum as is generally assumed but the fractional-energy dependence is nontrivial and different hadron types have varying Gaussian widths. The width of these …
