Limitations of conventional X-ray mammography has induced a recent interest into radio frequency based diagnostic approaches in order to take advantage of the sharpest dielectric contrast between benign and malignant breast tissues in the microwave frequency range [1]. Dielectric contrast is notably higher than the radiographic density exploited by X-ray mammography. Consequences of the superior sensitivity of RF-based techniques can have a huge social and cost impact. By reducing the false response percent, a dramatic reduction of costs for the health system together with a diminution of traumatic experiences for the patients can be achieved.
