Synthesis And Properties Of A Spinel Cathode Material For Lithium Ion Battery With Flat Potential Plateau, Ahmed Abdulrahman Ahmed Al-Tabbakh, Norlida Kamarulzaman, Aseel Al-Zubaidi

A potential cathode material for lithium ion battery was synthesised by combustion reaction. The thermal behaviour of the as-synthesised precursor was measured using a thermogravimetric analyser and the range of calcination temperature from 500 $^{\circ}$C to 800 $^{\circ}$C was determined. X-ray diffraction analysis showed that all calcined powders crystallised in the cubic spinel structure of the $Fd\bar{3}m$ space group. The particle size distributions and morphologies of the powders were obtained using a particle size analyser and scanning electron microscope. The Effect Of Neutron Irradiation On The Properties Of Tl_{0.6}Pb_{0.3}Cd_{0.1}Ba_2ca_2cu_{3}O_{9-Delta} Superconductors, Kareem Ali Jasim, Tariq Jaffar Alwan, Khalid Hadi Mahdi, Hazim Louis Mansour

The effect of neutron irradiation on phase purity, crystal structure, and electrical resistivity of Tl_{0.6}Pb_{0.3}Cd_{0.1} Ba_2Ca_2Cu_3O_{9-delta} superconductors has been studied before and after irradiation by electrical resistance measurements and X-ray diffraction techniques. The zero-resistance superconducting transition temperature, T_{c(offset)}, of samples systematically decreases by about 5 K with the increase of neutron irradiation fluence up 18.12 \times 10^{10} n cm^{-2}. The crystalline phases showed that the compounds have 2 phases, a high-Tc phase (1223) and low-Tc phase (1212), in addition to the impurity phase. The irradiation led to a decrease in oxygen content and volume fraction of high-Tc phase (1223).

Structural And Magnetic Characterization Of Bi_{0.9}Ca_{0.1}Fe_{0.98}X_{0.02}O_3 (X = Mg, Al, Ti, V) Polycrystalline Multiferroic Compounds, Mansour Al-Haj

The multiferroic compounds Bi_{0.9}Ca_{0.1}Fe_{0.98}X_{0.02}O_3, X = Mg, Al, Ti, V, were prepared by the solid state reaction method and were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, vibrating sample magnetometry, and differential scanning calorimetry. The compounds were found to have the rhombohedral perovskite-like structure, accompanied by the existence of small amounts of the usual impurity phases Bi_2Fe_4O_{9} and Bi_{25}FeO_{40}. The appearance of weak ferromagnetism is due to partial destruction of the spiral spin structure due to lattice distortion and suppression of oxygen vacancies. The magnetic transition temperatures of the compounds are 342, 346, 349, and 345 °C, respectively.

Neodymium (Nd)-doped SnO_2 transparent conducting oxide thin films were prepared by vapour deposition technique under different deposition parameters: substrate temperature, time and flow rate of vapour deposition, amount of base material, distance between the substrate and spray gun tip, and dopant (Nd) concentration. The structural, optical, electrical and photo-electronic properties of the doped and undoped SnO_2 films were studied. X-ray diffraction studies shows the polycrystalline nature of the films with preferential orientation along the (101), (211) and (301) planes and an average grain size of 100 Å. Role Of Substrate Temperature On The Structural And Morphological Properties Of Zno Thin Films Deposited By Ultrasonic Spray Pyrolysis, Abdelkader Djelloul, Khadidja Bouzid, Fahima Guerrab

Zinc oxide (ZnO) thin films have been prepared by ultrasonic Spray Pyrolysis (USP) technique using zinc acetate dihydrate dissolved in methanol, ethanol and deionized water. A thermodynamic analysis for the growth of ZnO thin films from zinc acetate and water vapor has been made. The evolution of the preferred crystalline orientations in the ZnO films was investigated systematically. The optical measurements reveal that films have a maximum transmittance of about 90% and a direct band gap of 3.26 eV.

Structural Analysis Of A Gaas/Al_Xga_{1-X} As Hot Electron Light Emitter Using Double Axis X-Ray Diffraction, Ali̇ Teke

We report on interference peaks in double axis x-ray rocking curves of tunable wavelength hot electron light emitters. The device is based on a p-GaAs and n-Ga_{1-x}Al_xAs heterojunction containing an inversion layer on the p- side, and GaAs quantum wells on the n- side of the junction, a construction known as HELLISH-2 (Hot Electron Light Emitting and Lasing in Semiconductor Heterostructure-Type 2). The interference has been shown to strongly depend on the periodicy of the device structure. Experimental curves are compared with simulated rocking curves.
