The present paper examines the effects of surface modification of CdS with diverse dyes on fabricated CdSbased hybrid solar cells. The X-ray diffraction results showed that CdS thin films had a hexagonal phase with a preferred orientation along the (101) plane. Scanning electron microscopy indicated that the CdS specimen was composed of a granular structure while a P3HT layer was formed from tiny grains. Band gaps of the CdS thin films and the P3HT layer were 2.45 eV and 1.98 eV, respectively. The absorption spectra showed that different dye loading caused an increase in the absorbance of CdS thin films …

Codoping a semiconductor thin film with two or more dopants is a feasible technique to improve the electrical properties of the thin film. In this work, we studied the codoping of Al and Ga n-type impurities in a ZnO film (AGZO) deposited on a glass substrate by the spray pyrolysis method. The total doping concentration, [Al + Ga]/[Al + Ga + Zn], was 5 at.% with varying Al:Ga codoping proportions of 0:5, 1.25:3.75, 2.5:2.5, 3.75:1.25, and 5:0 at.%. The effect of Al/Ga codoping on the structural, texture, morphological, optical, and electrical properties of the AGZO films were investigated using X-ray …

ZnO- and Mg-doped ZnO samples are prepared by spray pyrolysis on conducting glass substrates to fabricate ZnO-based dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Influences of Mg-doping content on the power conversion efficiencies of ZnO-based DSSCs are investigated. X-ray diffraction results show that all the samples exhibit a hexagonal wurtzite structure. Scanning electron microscopy data indicate that the ZnO sample has uniform rods with 1 $\mu $m diameter. With respect to ZnO, the band gap value of 4 at.% Mg-doped ZnO samples improves to the value of 3.27 eV and a further increase in Mg level up to 6 at.% gives rise to …

Annealing Effect On Zinc Nanoferrite Particles Synthesized By Spray Pyrolysis Of Polymer Precursor, Jessyamma Kurian, Subin John, Jacob Mathew

Nanosized zinc ferrite particles, prepared by spray pyrolysis method, were investigated by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, Fe^{57} Mossbauer spectroscopy, and vibrating sample magnetometer. The cubic crystalline phases were identified in all samples. The lattice parameter (a = 8.446 Å) and the average particle size of all the samples were determined. The particle sizes increased as the annealing temperature increased from 250 °C to 550 °C. The variation in structural parameters and particle size estimated from X-ray diffraction patterns of heat-treated samples suggested that the synthesized sample was in a `metastable' state or a compositionally constrained state. …

Bismuth oxide thin films have been prepared on amorphous glass substrates from non-aqueous medium using spray pyrolysis method. Characterization of the films was carried out with XRD, optical absorption, dark resistivity and thermoelectric power (TEP) measurements. These studies reveal that films as deposited are polycrystalline; having an optical band gap of 2.6 eV; electrical resistivity is of the order of $10^6$ ohm-cm; and electron carrier concentration and mobility are of the order of $3.8 \times 10^{19}$cm$^3$ and $1.5 \times 10^{-4}$cm$^2$ V$^{-1}$s$^{-1}$, respectively.
