High-Energy Ball Milling Of Polymers, Jabari Robinson

With metallic materials, the mechanism of milling is generally regarded as a combination of fracturing and cold-welding of powder particles. The same general mechanism is expected to apply polymers, but some aspects of the mechanism may be different for polymers due their chainlike molecular nature, lower moduli, and higher sensitivity to temperature. In spite of some potential problems some researchers have recently demonstrated that milling can be used to produce polymers and blends with acceptable mechanical properties. C.
