Radius Of Convergence Of A Power Series, Todor D. Todorov
Radius Of Convergence Of A Power Series, Todor D. Todorov
Mathematics
We derive two simple and memorizable formulas for the radius of convergence of a power series which seem to be appropriate for teaching in an introductory calculus course.
The Derangement Problem Relative To The Mahonian Process, Jessica Delfert, Hillary Einziger, Don Rawlings
The Derangement Problem Relative To The Mahonian Process, Jessica Delfert, Hillary Einziger, Don Rawlings
Mathematics
We survey n! plus q-derangement problems. Solutions to four Mahonian statistics arising in connection with cycle placement rules are presented. A few conjectures are also made.
Determination Of The Topological Structure Of An Orbifold By Its Group Of Orbifold Diffeomerphisms, Joseph E. Borzellino, Victor Brunsden
Determination Of The Topological Structure Of An Orbifold By Its Group Of Orbifold Diffeomerphisms, Joseph E. Borzellino, Victor Brunsden
Mathematics
We show that the topological structure of a compact, locally smooth orbifold is determined by its orbifold diffeomorphism group. Let DiffrOrb (O) denote the Cr orbifold diffeomorphisms of an orbifold O. Suppose that Φ: DiffrOrb(O1) → DiffrOrb (O2) is a group isomorphism between the the orbifold diffeomorphism groups of two orbifolds O1 and O2. We show that Φ is induced by a homeomorphism h: XO1 → XO2 , where XO denotes the underlying topological …

The pointwise limit S of a sequence of Stieltjes transforms (Sn) of real Borel probability measures (Pn) is itself the Stieltjes transform of a Borel p.m. P if and only if iy S(iy) →−1as y →∞, in which case Pn converges to P in distribution. Applications are given to several problems in mathematical physics.
