Most existing campus safety rankings are based on criminal incident history with minimal or no consideration of campus security conditions and standard safety measures. Campus safety information published by universities/colleges is usually conceptual/qualitative and not quantitative and are based-on criminal records of these campuses. Thus, no explicit and trusted ranking method for these campuses considers the level of compliance with the standard safety measures. A quantitative safety measure is important to compare different campuses easily and to learn about specific campus safety conditions.

Mobile location data are ubiquitous in the digital world. People intentionally and unintentionally generate numerous location data when connecting to cellular networks or sharing posts on social networks. As mobile devices normally choose to communicate with nearby cell towers outdoor, it is reasonable to infer human locations based on cell tower coordinates. Many social networking platforms, such as Twitter, allow users to geo-tag their posts optionally, publishing personal locations to friends or everyone. Wikipedia is a free and open-collaboration based online encyclopedia. The website has millions of pages that are maintained by thousands of volunteer editors. It is part of Wikipedia’s fundamental principles that pages are written with a neutral point of view and are maintained by volunteer editors for free with well-defined guidelines in order to avoid or disclose any conflict of interest. Social media has changed the way people communicate with each other, and consecutively affected people's ability to empathize in both positive and negative ways. One of the most harmful consequences of social media is the rise of cyberbullying, which tends to be more sinister than traditional bullying given that online records typically live on the internet for quite a long time and are hard to control. In this thesis, we present a three-phase algorithm, called BullyNet, for detecting cyberbullies on Twitter social network. In addition to relying on routine audits, companies are designing proactive methods that involve the inclusion of software tools to detect and deter instances of fraud and abuse. This paper discusses examples of companies using ACL and SAS software programs and how the software tools have positively changed their auditing systems.

Input manipulation vulnerabilities such as SQL Injection, Cross-site scripting, Buffer Overflow vulnerabilities are highly prevalent and pose critical security risks. As a result, many methods have been proposed to apply static analysis, dynamic analysis or a combination of them, to detect such security vulnerabilities. Most of the existing methods classify vulnerabilities into safe and unsafe. They have both false-positive and false-negative cases. Shafiq et al. (2009a) propose a non–signature-based technique for detecting malware which applies data mining techniques to features extracted from executable files. Their technique has a high level of accuracy, a low false positive rate, and a speed on par with commercial anti-virus products. One portion of their technique uses a multi-layer perceptron as a classifier, which provides little insight into the reasons for classification. Our experience is that network security analysts prefer tools which provide human-comprehensible reasons for a classification, rather than operating as “black boxes”. Static code attributes such as lines of code and cyclomatic complexity have been shown to be useful indicators of defects in software modules. As web applications adopt input sanitization routines to prevent web security risks, static code attributes that represent the characteristics of these routines may be useful for predicting web application vulnerabilities. In this paper, we classify various input sanitization methods into different types and propose a set of static code attributes that represent these types.
