The production of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) and its uses have a complicated environmental impact, which is influenced by infrastructure development and building operations as well as CO₂ emissions, which account for 7% of all worldwide CO₂ emissions. Due to the increasing population, production is still ongoing. The search for cement and construction materials produced with zero to low CO₂ emissions is therefore continuous.
