Electrochemical Performance Of Zinc Tetra (Trifluoroethoxy) Phthalocyaninate In Aqueous And Nonaqueous Solvents, Xiao-Shan Wu, Li-Ying Huang, Jin-Que Zhang, Shan-Lan Zhu

The cyclic voltammetric performance of ZnPcF in N,N-dimethylformaide(DMF),dimethyl sulfoxide(DMSO) solution and phosphate buffer solutions(PBS) has been examined.The results showed that four pairs of redox peaks appeared in nonaqueous solvents,and the values of half-wave redox potential were 0.558 V,-0.761 V,-1.034 V,-1.417 V,respectively,exhibiting four quasi-reversible phthalocyanine ligand based one-electron transfers.In PBS only two redox peaks were observed and the values of half-wave redox potential were-0.885 V,-1.104 V,exhibiting irreversible behavior characteristics.Comparing to the zinc phthalocyanine(unsubstitute ZnPc),introducing electron-withdrawing groups-trifluoroethoxyl to the peripheral sites of the phthalocyanines shifts the redox processes of the complex toward positive potentials.

As aging occurs, great exposure to light leads to the build-up of fluorescent materials called lipofuscin in the retinal pigment epithelial cells. This accumulation of lipofuscin is correlated to the progression of age related macular degeneration and other retinal dystrophies. No cure for macular degeneration has been found, so lipofuscin is of great interest. The lipofuscin has been associated with an increase in radiation intake and a loss of photoreceptors in the retina. CoAPO-5 molecular sieve was hydrothermally synthesized. The Cobalt ions in CoAPO-5 were coordinated with the SALEN ligend diffusing into the channels of the molecular sieve to form CoSALEN complexes. The electrochemical behaviors and electrocatalysis for dioxygen reduction of the CoSALEN complex immobilized in APO-5 modified glassy carbon electrodes ( GCEs) have been investigated by cyclic voltammetry( CV) and chronoamperometry ( CA) in differrent pH aqueous solutions. The electrochemical behavior of EuCl3 in 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chlorid([BMIM]Cl) has been investigated in the temperature range of 328 ~ 348 K by cyclic voltammetry.Influences of scan speed and temperature in [BMIM]Cl have been examined.The electrochemical window of [BMIM]Cl was-1.7 V ~ 0.80 V(vs.Ag/AgCl),when the working electrode was glassy carbon electrode.Eu3+ in[BMIM]Cl underwent a single step one-electron transfer reduction to Eu2 +,which is quasi-reversible reaction controlled by both electron transfer and diffusion of ions.The diffusion coefficient of Eu3 + in [BMIM]Cl increased with increase of temperature from 3.75 × 10-9 cm2 /s at 328 K to 1.32 × 10-8 cm2 /s at …

Platinum-based catalysts are considered the most efficient catalysts for triggering electrochemical reactions in proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells. In the present study, commercial catalysts containing 10% and 30% Pt supported on Vulcan XC-72 carbon were studied to assess their performance in PEM fuel cells. Both catalysts consisted of Pt particles of almost the same size. The utility of these catalysts in PEM fuel cells was studied by finding the real surface area and rate of electro-oxidation of methanol in 0.5 M H_2SO_4 by using cyclic voltammetry. The electrochemical properties of NO_2 formazans and their Ni(II) complexes were investigated. The investigated formazans included a NO_2 group at the o-, m-, and p-positions of the 1-phenyl ring and at the m-position of the 3-phenyl ring. The oxidation and reduction peak potentials, number of electrons transferred, diffusion coefficient, heterogeneous rate constant, and possible reaction mechanism of the compounds were determined with the use of cyclic voltammetry (CV), ultramicrodisc electrodes (UMEs), and chronoamperometry (CA).
