Optimum Pyrolysis Conditions To Prepare The Most Crystalline Boron Carbide Powder From Boric Acid–Mannitol Complex Ester, Abdullah Devri̇m Pekdemi̇r, Müşerref Önal, Yüksel Sarikaya

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

A weak acidic complex ester (CE) in solid form was prepared by a condensation reaction between very weak boric acid (BA: H3BO3) and (D)-mannitol (MA: C6H14O6) by the molar ratio of BA/MA = 2. A boron carbide (B4C) precursor was obtained from heating of the CE at 400 °C for 4 h. The precursor was pyrolyzed under argon flow in the interval of 1300–1550 °C for 4 h and at 1400 °C for 1–4 h, respectively. The materials were examined using several techniques such as X-ray diffraction analysis, thermal analysis, scanning electron microscopy, particle size distribution, and nitrogen adsorption/desorption. The …

Effects Of Zsm-5 Zeolite On Pyrolysis Of Polystyrene: From Stabilizing To Catalyzing, Qing Yuan Ma, Zhen Huang, Xuan Ren, Jia Jia Zhao, Fu Chen, Li Jun Teng

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Nonisothermal pyrolysis measurements of polystyrene (PS)/ZSM-5 zeolite hybrids are conducted in N2 and thermogravimetric results have been kinetically analyzed with different isoconversional methods. Experimental results show that the addition of 5 and 10 wt.% ZSM-5 zeolite has increased the initial pyrolysis temperature of PS while the addition of 20 and 30 wt.% ZSM-5 zeolite can significantly decrease the initial pyrolysis temperature of PS. Elevated activation energy is resulted by adding low zeolite amount whereas reduced activation energy is obtained by adding high ZSM-5 amounts. The effect of zeolite ZSM-5 on PS pyrolysis can thus be observed to transfer from stabilizing …

In this study, effects of TiO$_{2}$ and ZnO nanometal oxides on cellulose pyrolysis have been investigated. Both catalysts have been synthesized via hydrothermal method and characterized by using different techniques. Catalytic and catalyst-free experiments were carried out so as to identify the catalytic abilities of synthesized nanoparticles. Catalyst-free experiments were carried out at 500, 600, and 700 °C in order to determine the optimal condition for pyrolysis and it was found as 700 °C. Optimum catalyst ratio for cellulose pyrolysis was found as 5% (w/w) for both TiO$_{2}$ and ZnO catalysts. GC-MS and micro-GC analyses were conducted in order to …
