Journal of Electrochemistry

Metallic silver coating has been widely used in the fields of microelectronics industry, catalyst, sensor and preparation of magnetoresistive materials because of its excellent corrosion resistance, good lubricity, high conductivity, excellent decoration and high catalysis. Compared with the traditional aqueous solution system, the research on metal electrodeposition in ionic liquid system is developing rapidly. In addition, additives are the key factors in the silver plating process. Adding a small amount of organic or inorganic additives to the plating solution will significantly change the coating properties, such as improving brightness, hardness and ductility. In this paper, using choline chloride urea (ChCl-Urea) …

Journal of Electrochemistry

Titanium (Ti) and its alloys are commonly used as engineering materials. Although they have been widely used in marine environments, they are also facing serious threats of biofouling. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the relationship between electrochemical behavior and bioaffinity of titanium oxide film in seawater to explore effective surface treatment technology to reduce biofouling. In this work, the cathodic potential of -0.8 VSCE and the passivation potential of 0.5 VSCE were directly applied to the TA2 Ti in artificial seawater for potentionstatic polarization treatment to prepare two kinds of surface films with different states and then …

The sulfur mustard (bis(2-chloroethyl) sulphide, HD), one of highly toxic chemical weapon agents, can damage the alive tissue cells (such as skin, lung, respiratory mucosa and so on), and cause carcinogenic and mutagenic effects for a long time exposure, which imposes a great threat not only to the human health, but also to the sustainable development of the society. With its convenience, high sensitivity and rapid response, electrochemical technology exhibits considerable potential in the field-deployed detection toward HD, but the related reports are rare. Herein, the electrochemical behavior of HD on the bare Pt electrode was investigated by electrochemical measurements, …

Journal of Electrochemistry

By means of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS),the electrochemical behaviors of organic coating/metal substrate were studied under simulated deep sea environment in the laboratory.Effects of seawater pressure on the transportation behavior of water through coating and the protective performance of coating were analyzed. The experimental results showed that, compared to normal pressured seawater, there were different impedance characteristics of coating in 3.5 MPa pressured seawater. The main observations were that high seawater pressure accelerated the process of water uptake and invalidation of coating, increased water absorption, and lowered the anti-corrosion property of coating.

Electrochemical Behavior Of Aluminized Steel In Seawater Environment, Cheng-Hao Liang

Journal of Electrochemistry

The electrochemical behavior of aluminized steel in seawater has been studied by immersion test and electrochemical technology. The results indicate that compared with 20# steel, the aluminized steel has lower corrosion potential and stronger anodic activity in seawater. Its anodic solution will occur at low potential. The immersion test shows that the corrosion rates of aluminized steel and 20# steel are 5.80 mg/dm~2 dand 3.36 mg/dm~2 d, respectively. Through the X-ray diffraction patternanalysis, it was found that chloride ions exit in the corrosion products of aluminized steel. It proves the participation of chloride ions in the process of corrosion, which …

Anodic Dissolution Of Aluminum In Koh-Ethanol Solutions, Hai-Bo Shao, Jian-Ming Wang, Xiao-Yan Wang, Yi Zheng, Jian-Qing Zhang

Journal of Electrochemistry

The feasibility of employing aluminum in KOH ethanol solution as a battery anode system was discussed. Weight loss measurement showed that the corrosion rate of Al is low enough to be used in sealed batteries. Through the measurements done by anodic polarization, EIS and galvanostatic discharge, it was found that A1 is electrochemical active in a wide potential range in this system, and its discharge mechanism is similar to that of A1 in aqueous solution. The discharge potential increased rapidly after a period of time, which might be caused by the discharge products depositing on the electrode surface.

By means of ultraviolet abosrption method, it is proved that the reduction position of GA molecular is ketenes radical. The peak potentials move positively with increasing pH demonstrate that the primary electrode reaction is accompanied by a coupled chemical reaction. The electrode reaction process is a typical example of ECE mechanism. Some effects of various parameters on adsorptive stripping …
