Speciation Of Elements Via A Sequential Extraction Procedure In Municipal Wastewater Biosolids From Three Rural Wwtp In East Texas (Usa), Kefa K. Onchoke

Faculty Publications

In this data article, the bioavailability of elements in municipal wastewater sludge (also known as biosolids) in samples collected from three treatment plants in East Texas, USA was evaluated. Although detailed speciation of the metals were assessed by using inductively coupled plasma optical spectroscopy (ICP-OES), and were discussed in the research article titled “Evaluating bioavailability of elements in municipal wastewater sludge (Biosolids) from three rural wastewater treatment plants in East Texas (USA) by a sequential extraction procedure” [1], this report presents the absolute raw concentrations and fractionations of the 26 metals from the biosolids (Nacogdoches Wastewater Sludge, Lufkin Wastewater Sludge, …

Development Of Standard Operating Procedure With Modified Method To Quantify Benzene And Other Volatile Organic Compounds In Air Samples Using Gas Chromatography, Heather Hall Aug 2021

Development Of Standard Operating Procedure With Modified Method To Quantify Benzene And Other Volatile Organic Compounds In Air Samples Using Gas Chromatography, Heather Hall

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Stephen F. Austin State University (SFASU) Department of Environmental Science has recently invested in a gas chromatograph which can be used to analyze air samples for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX). The goal of this project was to develop a standard operating procedure (SOP) and modify the current method for the detection of VOCs associated with oil and gas drilling activity to accommodate the equipment and capabilities of SFASU Environmental Assessment Lab. This study aims to provide the framework for future research in air quality monitoring in the Eagle Ford Shale area. An …

Data On Gc/Ms Elution Profile, 1h And 13c Nmr Spectra Of 1-, 3-, And 6-Nitrobenzo[A]Pyrenes, Kefa Karimu Onchoke Jan 2020

Data On Gc/Ms Elution Profile, 1h And 13c Nmr Spectra Of 1-, 3-, And 6-Nitrobenzo[A]Pyrenes, Kefa Karimu Onchoke

Faculty Publications

The data presented in this article is related to the research article entitled, “13C NMR Chemical Shift Assignments of Nitrated Benzo[a]pyrenes based on Two-dimensional Techniques and DFT/GIAO Calculations”, Kefa K. Onchoke, PeerJ., . The NMR spectral profiles of nitrated benzo[a]pyrenes is presented. Further, the article describes elution profiles of 1-, 3- and 6-NBaP, the acquisition of 1H and 13C NMR data and the J-Coupling constants (which are useful for the assignment of peaks via 2D HMQC and HMBC techniques). The data presented is useful for developing structure-activity relationships for other nitrated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (NPAHs)

Groundwater Hydrogeolgy And Hydrochemistry Of Karst Springs In The Eastern Peninsula Of Fort Hood Military Installation, William Scribner Welles Dec 2018

Groundwater Hydrogeolgy And Hydrochemistry Of Karst Springs In The Eastern Peninsula Of Fort Hood Military Installation, William Scribner Welles

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

The eastern peninsula of Fort Hood Military Installation is underlain by a complex karst spring network. These springs are a primary water source in a protected habitat for endangered songbirds, which has only recently begun to be fully investigated. These Fredericksburg Group springs express both epigenetic and hypogenetic karst signatures. The study area is part of a paleo reef trend, a hydraulically disconnected segment of the northern section of the Edwards Aquifer. This study utilized standard ion index values, repeated measures, and principal component analyses on the chemical profiles of six perennial springs to classify spring water sources and their …

Data On Ion Composition And X-Ray Diffraction Patterns Of Biosolids From Wastewater Treatment Plants In Lufkin And Nacogdoches, Texas, Usa, Kefa Karimu Onchoke, Christopher M. Franclemont, Paul W. Weatherford Oct 2018

Data On Ion Composition And X-Ray Diffraction Patterns Of Biosolids From Wastewater Treatment Plants In Lufkin And Nacogdoches, Texas, Usa, Kefa Karimu Onchoke, Christopher M. Franclemont, Paul W. Weatherford

Faculty Publications

The data presented in this article is related to the research article entitled, “Structural Characterization and Evaluation of Municipal Wastewater Sludge (Biosolids) from two Rural Wastewater Treatment Plants in East Texas, USA”, Onchoke, KK, Franclemont, C.M., Spectrochim. Acta A, In press[1]. The XRD profiles and composition of biosolids from wastewater treatment plant is presented. This study describes the composition of XRD crystalline phase patterns of the wastewater sludge. After the removal of the Ka2 peaks the d-spacing and hkl values were determined. In addition, the ion chromatographic profile of the seven anions (NO3-, NO2 …

Evaluation Of The Performance Of A Rural Surface Water Treatment Plant In Nacogdoches, Texas, Esmeralda Garcia, Jennifer Hanes, Phillip Sharp, Petra Kadakova, Kefa Karimu Onchoke, Michael Janusa Mar 2016

Evaluation Of The Performance Of A Rural Surface Water Treatment Plant In Nacogdoches, Texas, Esmeralda Garcia, Jennifer Hanes, Phillip Sharp, Petra Kadakova, Kefa Karimu Onchoke, Michael Janusa

Undergraduate Research Conference

The performance of a rural surface water treatment plant in Nacogdoches Texas was assessed for selected metals (Ag, Ba, Be, Bi, Cd, Co, Cr, Cs, Cu, Ga, In, Li, Mn, Mo, Ni, Pb, Rb, Sr, Tl, V, and Zn) from June 2015 through spring 2016. Results indicate that the lake water coming into the surface water treatment plant was significantly cleaner after treatment and was below maximum World Health Organization (WHO) drinking water standards.

Water Soluble Cationic Porphyrin Sensor For Detection Of Hg2+, Pb2+, Cd2+, And Cu2+, Matibur Zamadar, Christopher Orr, Miranda Uherek Jan 2016

Water Soluble Cationic Porphyrin Sensor For Detection Of Hg2+, Pb2+, Cd2+, And Cu2+, Matibur Zamadar, Christopher Orr, Miranda Uherek

Faculty Publications

Here we report the sensing properties of the aqueous solution of meso-tetra(N-methyl-4-pyridyl)porphine tetrachloride (1) for simultaneous detection of toxic metal ions by using UV-vis spectroscopy. Cationic porphyrin 1 displayed different electronic absorptions in UV-vis region upon interacting with Hg2+, Pb2+, Cd2+, and Cu2+ ions in neutral water solution at room temperature. Quite interestingly, the porphyrin 1 showed that it can function as a single optical chemical sensor and/or metal ion receptor capable of detecting two or more toxic metal ions, particularly Hg2+, Pb2+, and Cd2+ ions coexisting in a water sample. Porphyrin 1 in an aqueous solution provides a unique …
