Feasibility Of Multi-Year Forecast For The Colorado River Water Supply: Time Series Modeling, Brian Plucinski, Yan Sun, Shih-Yu (Simon) Wang, Robert R. Gilies, James Eklund, Chih-Chia Wang

Mathematics and Statistics Faculty Publications

The future of the Colorado River water supply (WS) affects millions of people and the US economy. A recent study suggested a cross-basin correlation between the Colorado River and its neighboring Great Salt Lake (GSL). Following that study, the feasibility of using the previously developed multi-year prediction of the GSL water level to forecast the Colorado River WS was tested. Time-series models were developed to predict the changes in WS out to 10 years. Regressive methods and the GSL water level data were used for the depiction of decadal variability of the Colorado River WS. Various time-series models suggest a …

Feasibility Of Multi-Year Forecast For The Colorado River Water Supply: Time Series Modeling, Brian Plucinski

All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023

The Colorado River is one of the largest resources for water in the United States, as well as being an important asset to the economy. Previous studies have shown a connection between the Great Salt Lake and the Colorado River. This study used time series analysis to build models to predict the water supply of the Colorado River ten years out. These models used data from the Colorado River in addition to Great Salt Lake water elevation. Several models suggest a decline in water supply from 2013 – 2020, before starting to increase. These predictions differ from predictions published by …

1886 - Physical Data And Statistics Of California

Miscellaneous Documents and Reports

A reporting of water supply and related data collected in accordance with the law of 1878, creating the office of and defining the duties of the State Engineer, and upon which to base reports on the problems of irrigation and arterial drainage in California.

1890 - Report On Irrigation In The United States, Second Edition, Richard J. Hinton

Miscellaneous Federal Documents & Reports

The report to the United States Senate Special Committee on Irrigation and Reclamation of Arid Lands was an inquiry into the progress and condition of irrigation involving the extent and character of the area within which the annual rain fall was not sufficient for industrial uses of the people. The inquiry involved the extent of the fall of rains or snow within an area, any evidence as to increase or decrease of precipitation resulting from agricultural settlement or of pastoral occupation, the increase of humidity, the destruction of the timber mainly by its use for settlement purposes, the effect of …

1994 - Agriculture, Water And California's Drought Of 1987-92, Kenneth W. Umbach.Pdf

Miscellaneous Documents and Reports

The purpose of this paper was to summarize the 1987-1992 drought in the context of agriculture and water in California, to examine the types of response that farmers and institutions could and did use, and to draw lessons from that experience. California would be challenged as it grappled with population growth and environmental concerns. In view of the demand on water supplies made by California's agricultural sector (77 to 80 percent of the "developed" water used in the state, it was especially important to review those responses.

2002 - North Monterey County Comprehensive Water Resources Management Plan Jan 2019

2002 - North Monterey County Comprehensive Water Resources Management Plan

Monterey County Water Resources Agency Water Reports

North Monterey County experiences severe water supply and quality problems including falling water levels, seawater intrusion, and nitrate contamination. The region is in a significant state of overdraft where current demands greatly exceed the annual level of recharge. Without increased supplies, dramatic changes need to occur to the North County land use pattern to reduce demand. The Comprehensive Water Resources Management Plan combines water conservation, water supply, water quality, and land use actions into comprehensive policy alternatives. It is clear, however, that capital facilities are necessary if the problem is to be solved.

The study area overlies a portion of …
