An Inventory And Condition Survey Of Rangelands In The Carnarvon Basin, Western Australia, A L. Payne, G F. Spencer, P J. Curry
Technical Bulletins
The inventory and condition survey of rangelands in the Carnarvon Basin, undertaken by the Department of Agriculture and Food, Western Australia (DAFWA) between 1980 and 1982, describes and maps the natural resources of the region’s pastoral leasehold land. This survey report provides a baseline record of the existence and condition of the natural area’s resources, to assist with the planning and implementation of land management practices. The report identified and described the condition of soils, landforms, vegetation, habitat, ecosystems, and declared plants and animals. It also assessed the impact of pastoralism and made land management recommendations. The area surveyed covers …

A Study Of Alternative Sites For Equestrian/Hobby Farm Development In The Karratha Area, Bernard Kok
Resource management technical reports
This report has been prepared in response to a request from the Shire of Roebourne to assess the land use capabilities for equestrian/hobby farm development in the Karratha area. The report comprises five parts; a brief review of the areas climate, discussion of the geological soil units and vegetation, water supply, alternative areas of development and recommendations.

Curbur Station : Inventory Of The Range And Its Management, Alexander Mcrae Holm
Resource management technical reports
Ten land systems were identified, descriped and mapped. potential feed status was assessed for each land system. The land systems were then ranked accordingly and stocking rates allocated. Wongdong saline shrublands was considered to be the most productive system and Narryer hills, outcrops and breakaways the least productive. An assessment was made of the range condition and erosion status of the least. These assessments indicated that most of the pastures had been heavily utilized in the past.
Eleven Year Vegetational Comparison In An Arid Grassland, Edgar F. Kleiner
Eleven Year Vegetational Comparison In An Arid Grassland, Edgar F. Kleiner
Canyonlands Research Bibliography
A study has been made of the vegetational condition of two graben valleys in Canyonlands National Park. The sites, formerly subjected to relatively heavy grazing pressure, were originally investigated in 1970 and analyzed again in 1981, providing an eleven-year record of succession. Comparisons are made to successional trends noted in related studies of disturbed and pristine areas. The graben valleys, with few exceptions, show a successional trend over eleven years toward the climax vegetational condition of an area that has never been disturbed.

Dairying In W.A., Department Of Agriculture And Food, Western Australia
Dairying In W.A., Department Of Agriculture And Food, Western Australia
Bulletins - 3000 - 3999
Western Australia has a small dairy industry compared with its other rural production. However, the industry has consolidated over recent years.Tree clearing and pasture development on existing holdings and the amalgamation of small dairy farms has led to a rapid increase in the area of pasture per farm. The trend in Western Australia is towards bigger herds, more efficient dairies, more fodder conservation and increasing production per cow and per hectare. Commercial dairy farming in Western Australia is confined to the south-western corner of the State, south of Perth, extending in a 50-kilometre-wide strip along the coast to 50 kilometres …

The Growing Season, Department Of Agriculture, Western Australia, Bureau Of Meteorology
Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4
IN AUSTRALIA the seasons of summer, autumn, winter and spring do not have the importance that they have in the Old World, and though summer and winter weather are quite different, there is not the obvious difference in autumn and spring conditions that there is in the colder countries.
This is largely due to the difference in vegetation and in its life cycle in the different places.
Flora And Fauna Conservation : A Plea To Landholders, Clee Francis Howard Jenkins
Flora And Fauna Conservation : A Plea To Landholders, Clee Francis Howard Jenkins
Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4
MUCH of the recent discussion on conservation has centred around the importance of wild flower reserves and the necessity for protecting one of the State's most important tourist attractions.
Although less important to visitors than the flowers, many of our wild animals hold equal interest for nature lovers and scientists, and they also need protection.
Honey Plants In Western Australia, F. G. Smith
Honey Plants In Western Australia, F. G. Smith
Bulletins - 3000 - 3999
Successful honey production depends, among other things on a good knowledge of the plants which produce nectar.
Every apiarist needs to know which plants are of importance to honey-bees, where those plants occur, and when they flower. He also needs to know which plants produce nectar which will result in the production of good quality honey, and which produce unpalatable or unmarketable honey. To maintain the strength of his bee colonies he also needs to know which plants produce nutritious pollen.
The object of this bulletin is to provide the basic information on these subjects in the main beekeeping areas …
A Soil And Vegetation Inventory And Analysis Of Three Nebraska Sandhills Range Sites, Donald F. Burzlaff
A Soil And Vegetation Inventory And Analysis Of Three Nebraska Sandhills Range Sites, Donald F. Burzlaff
Historical Research Bulletins of the Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station
This study was undertaken to inventory the soils and vegetation of certain areas of the Sandhills and to seek edaphic characteristics that may be the limiting factor in the distribution of various plant species. Information of this nature will permit formulation of more accurate management practices because of a refinement in delineation of range sites.
