Visual Analytics And Modeling Of Materials Property Data, Diwas Bhattarai Jan 2023

Visual Analytics And Modeling Of Materials Property Data, Diwas Bhattarai

LSU Doctoral Dissertations

Due to significant advancements in experimental and computational techniques, materials data are abundant. To facilitate data-driven research, it calls for a system for managing and sharing data and supporting a set of tools for effective data analysis and modeling. Generally, a given material property M can be considered as a multivariate data problem. The dimensions of M are the values of the property itself, the conditions (pressure P, temperature T, and multi-component composition X) that control the concerned property, and relevant metadata I (source, date).

Here we present a comprehensive database considering both experimental and computational sources …

Northeastern China 4.2ka Database, Louis A. Scuderi, Xiaoping Yamg, Samantha Ascoli, Hongwei Li

Paleoclimate Datasets

The Hunshandake Sandy Lands of northeastern China, currently a semiarid lightly vegetated region, were characterized by perennial lakes and forest stands in the early and middle Holocene. Well-developed dark grassland-type paleosols (mollisols) at the southern edge of the Hunshandake OSL-dated to between 6.93 +0.61 and 4.27 +0.38 ka along with lacustrine sands at higher elevations that date to between 5.7 +0.3 and 5.2 +0.2 ka and thick gray lacustrine sediments suggest a wetter climate. Between 4.2 and 3.8 ka, the region experienced extreme drying that was exacerbated by lake overflow drainage and sapping that depleted the groundwater table. The region …

Creation Of A Numerical Mathematical Model Of Geofiltration Processes And Its Adaptation For Solving Epignosic And Forecast Problems (In Terms Of Gurlen District Of Khorezm Region), Tolkun Mirakhmedov Sep 2018

Creation Of A Numerical Mathematical Model Of Geofiltration Processes And Its Adaptation For Solving Epignosic And Forecast Problems (In Terms Of Gurlen District Of Khorezm Region), Tolkun Mirakhmedov

Bulletin of National University of Uzbekistan: Mathematics and Natural Sciences

The article considers the creation of a mathematical model of geofiltration processes in Gurlen District. Methods for calculating and developing a mathematical model and algorithms were carried out, and applied software was developed, and the developed geofiltration mathematical model was adapted to solve the epignosic and forecast problems of the area under consideration.

Digitizing Dinosaur National Monument's Carnegie Quarry, Rebecca Esplin Dec 2017

Digitizing Dinosaur National Monument's Carnegie Quarry, Rebecca Esplin

Theses and Dissertations

The Carnegie Quarry in northeastern Utah is world-renowned for the dinosaur skeletons it has produced and for its in situ display of dinosaur bones. The specimens excavated at Carnegie Quarry are displayed and curated in 20 repositories, most in North America. Data on these specimens in the forms of notes, photographs, publications, field maps, and so on, are scattered in an array of formats and institutions. The primary goal of this thesis is to develop a database linking these data with a digital map (GIS system) to make them readily accessible. To this end, a relational database was created using …

A Uniform Database Of Teleseismic Shear-Wave Splitting Measurements For The Western And Central United States: December 2014 Update, Bin B. Yang, Kelly H. Liu, Haider H. Dahm, Stephen S. Gao Mar 2016

A Uniform Database Of Teleseismic Shear-Wave Splitting Measurements For The Western And Central United States: December 2014 Update, Bin B. Yang, Kelly H. Liu, Haider H. Dahm, Stephen S. Gao

Geosciences and Geological and Petroleum Engineering Faculty Research & Creative Works

We present a new version of a shear-wave splitting (SWS) database for the western and central United States (WCUS) using broadband seismic data recorded up to the end of 2014 to update a previous version that used data recorded prior to the end of 2012, when the USArray Transportable Array stations were still recording in the easternmost region of theWCUS. A total of 7452 pairs of additional measurements recorded by 1202 digital broadband seismic stations are obtained, and all the measurements in the previous database are rechecked. The resulting uniform SWS database contains a total of 23,448 pairs of well-defined …

Geosciences and Geological and Petroleum Engineering Faculty Research & Creative Works

We present a shear wave splitting (SWS) database for the western and central United States as part of a lasting effort to build a uniform SWS database for the entire North America. The SWS measurements were obtained by minimizing the energy on the transverse component of the PKS, SKKS, and SKS phases. Each of the individual measurements was visually checked to ensure quality. This version of the database contains 16,105 pairs of splitting parameters. The data used to generate the parameters were recorded by 1774 digital broadband seismic stations over the period of 1989-2012, and represented all the available data …
