The Impact Of Driving Conditions On Phev Battery Performance, Nathan Christensen, John Patten, Steven Srivastava, Gary P. Nola
The Impact Of Driving Conditions On Phev Battery Performance, Nathan Christensen, John Patten, Steven Srivastava, Gary P. Nola
john a patten
The battery performance of a modified Prius with a 5 kWh plug-in battery was documented for a year to determine the impact of environmental conditions and user attributes on vehicle performance. Both fuel economy and pure electrical efficiency were compared to ambient temperature. The fuel economy has a positive relationship with ambient temperature until approximately 70˚F where the efficiency begins to drop. Electrical performance has a positive linear relationship with ambient temperature. With the emergence of electric vehicles (EVs) and PHEVs from a variety of automotive manufacturers, information on EV and PHEV performance for consumers will become more important.

Energy Storage: Technology For A More Efficient Grid, Noah Proser
Energy Storage: Technology For A More Efficient Grid, Noah Proser
CMC Senior Theses
Energy storage technologies have the potential to revolutionize the electric grid by allowing for the integration of renewable generation while increasing the utilization and efficiency of current grid assets. These technologies include pumped hydroelectric storage, compressed air energy storage (CAES), flywheels, batteries, thermal energy storage (TES), super capacitors, and superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES). While energy storage has been implemented in some areas, its benefits are greatly undervalued by current regulatory frameworks leading to suboptimal outcomes for grid operators, utilities, and ratepayers. Large-scale adoption of storage technologies will require regulatory frameworks that recognize the benefits of grid-scale storage across generation, …
The Applications And Limitations Of Printable Batteries, Matthew Delmanowski
The Applications And Limitations Of Printable Batteries, Matthew Delmanowski
Graphic Communication
This study focuses on the potential applications for printed batteries and how they could affect the printing industry. It also analyzes the main problems associated with manufacturing this technology and what needs to be done to overcome these issues. To find the answers to these questions, two methods of research were used. The first was through the elite and specialized interviewing of Dr. Scott Williams of Rochester Institute of Technology and Professor Nancy Cullins from Cal Poly. The second form of research was a common, yet useful, method called secondary research. This entailed looking at recent written research papers about …
Power Save-Based Adaptive Multimedia Delivery Mechanism, David Mcmullin, Ramona Trestian, Gabriel-Miro Muntean
Power Save-Based Adaptive Multimedia Delivery Mechanism, David Mcmullin, Ramona Trestian, Gabriel-Miro Muntean
9th. IT & T Conference
The use of mobile computing devices has become more and more common as such devices have become more and more affordable and powerful. With increases in throughput speed and decreases in device size, wireless multimedia streaming to battery powered mobile devices has become widespread. However, the battery power has not kept up with the advances in technology and has not increased so rapidly. This deficiency in battery power provides motivation for development of more energy efficient multimedia streaming methods and procedures. As such, an adaptive delivery mechanism is proposed to take into account the various drains on battery life and …
A Study On The Charge-Discharge Mechanism Of Co3o4 As An Anode For The Li Ion Secondary Battery, Yong-Mook Kang, Min-Sang Song, Jin-Ho Kim, Hyun-Seok Kim, Min-Sik Park, Jai-Young Lee, Hua-Kun Liu, S X. Dou

Australian Institute for Innovative Materials - Papers
Co3O4 has shown acceptable electrochemical properties as the anode material of Li secondary batteries. In detail, its capacity reached about 700 mAh/g, twice as high as graphite, and 93.4% of initial capacity was retained after 100 cycles. EIS (electrochemical impedance spectroscopy) analyses revealed that after the 1st cycle, the insertion or extraction of Li ions in Co3O4 can occur homogeneously and reversibly (randless-like behavior, homogeneous mixture: Co + Li2O (in the state of Li insertion), Co3O4 (in the state of Li extraction)). In fact, the coulombic efficiency of Co …

Preparation And Electrochemical Magnesium Insertion Behaviors Of Mgv_2o_6, Hua-Tang Yuan, Li-Fang Jiao, Jian-Sheng Cao, Xiu-Sheng Liu, Ming Zhao, Yong-Mei Wang
Journal of Electrochemistry
MgV_2O_6was synthesized by conventional solid-state reaction from MgO and V_2O_(5)as starting materials. X-Ray diffraction analysis showed that the prepared sample belongs to the monoclinic structure. Electrochemical magnesium insertion from aprotic electrolytes such as organomagnesium halides into this host was found possible and exhibited charge/discharge circulation.
