Using Machine Learning Classification Methods To Detect The Presence Of Heart Disease, Nestor Pereira
Using Machine Learning Classification Methods To Detect The Presence Of Heart Disease, Nestor Pereira
Dissertations
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the most common cause of death in Ireland, and probably, worldwide. According to the Health Service Executive (HSE) cardiovascular disease accounting for 36% of all deaths, and one important fact, 22% of premature deaths (under age 65) are from CVD.
Using data from the Heart Disease UCI Data Set (UCI Machine Learning), we use machine learning techniques to detect the presence or absence of heart disease in the patient according to 14 features provide for this dataset. The different results are compared based on accuracy performance, confusion matrix and area under the Receiver Operating Characteristics (ROC) …
Factor Analysis Of Mixed Data (Famd) And Multiple Linear Regression In R, Nestor Pereira
Factor Analysis Of Mixed Data (Famd) And Multiple Linear Regression In R, Nestor Pereira
Dissertations
In the previous projects, it has been worked to statistically analysis of the factors to impact the score of the subjects of Mathematics and Portuguese for several groups of the student from secondary school from Portugal.
In this project will be interested in finding a model, hypothetically multiple linear regression, to predict the final score, dependent variable G3, of the student according to some features divide into two groups. One group, analyses the features or predictors which impact in the final score more related to the performance of the students, means variables like study time or past failures. The second …
Analysis Of Hurricane Track Forecast Accuracy During The 2018 Season, Jonathan D. Unger
Analysis Of Hurricane Track Forecast Accuracy During The 2018 Season, Jonathan D. Unger
Pursuit - The Journal of Undergraduate Research at The University of Tennessee
Hurricane track forecasting has become more accurate in recent years due to technological advances in modeling methods. However, due to the complex nature of the relationship between oceanic and atmospheric variables and hurricane tracks, noteworthy errors in track prediction, especially for predictions several days into the future, still remain. In this study, two different methods of forecasting hurricane tracks are compared. Using the four United States landfalling hurricanes of the 2018 season as a sample, the official forecast tracks published by the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and hypothetical tracks based purely on climatology were mapped simultaneously with the preliminary best …

Analyzing A Method To Determine The Utility Of Adding A Classification System To A Sequence For Improved Accuracy, Kevin S. Pamilagas
Analyzing A Method To Determine The Utility Of Adding A Classification System To A Sequence For Improved Accuracy, Kevin S. Pamilagas
Theses and Dissertations
Frequently, ensembles of classification systems are combined into a sequence in order to better enhance the accuracy in classifying objects of interest. However, there is a point in which adding an additional system to a sequence no longer enhances the system as either the increase in operational costs exceeds the benefit of improvements in classification or the addition of the system does not increase accuracy at all. This research will examine a utility measure to determine the valid or invalid nature of adding a classification system to a sequence of such systems based on the ratio of the change in …
Effects On Perception And Accuracy Of Live Putting When Leaving The Flagstick In The Hole, Danielle Nicholson
Effects On Perception And Accuracy Of Live Putting When Leaving The Flagstick In The Hole, Danielle Nicholson
Williams Honors College, Honors Research Projects
The purpose of this study was to investigate the preferences of golfers and how those preferences affected their putting. This study involved participants who were golfers with a four-handicap or better taking a survey of their preferences of having the flagstick in and out and then assessing their putting from various distances with the flagstick in and out. The researcher measured the distance of the golf ball away from the hole after it had finished rolling. Then, t-tests were used to compare the data with the flagstick in and flagstick out to determine if there is a significant difference. The …
On The Role Of Ill-Conditioning: Biharmonic Eigenvalue Problem And Multigrid Algorithms, Kasey Bray
On The Role Of Ill-Conditioning: Biharmonic Eigenvalue Problem And Multigrid Algorithms, Kasey Bray
Theses and Dissertations--Mathematics
Very fine discretizations of differential operators often lead to large, sparse matrices A, where the condition number of A is large. Such ill-conditioning has well known effects on both solving linear systems and eigenvalue computations, and, in general, computing solutions with relative accuracy independent of the condition number is highly desirable. This dissertation is divided into two parts.
In the first part, we discuss a method of preconditioning, developed by Ye, which allows solutions of Ax=b to be computed accurately. This, in turn, allows for accurate eigenvalue computations. We then use this method to develop discretizations that yield accurate computations …
