Mapping The Patent Landscape Of Synthetic Biology For Fine Chemical Production Pathways, Pablo Carbonell, Abdullah Gok, Philip Shapira, Jean-Loup Faulon Dec 2015

Mapping The Patent Landscape Of Synthetic Biology For Fine Chemical Production Pathways, Pablo Carbonell, Abdullah Gok, Philip Shapira, Jean-Loup Faulon

Philip Shapira

A goal of synthetic biology bio-foundries is to innovate through an iterative design/build/test/learn pipeline. In assessing the value of new chemical production routes, the intellectual property (IP) novelty of the pathway is important. Exploratory studies can be carried using knowledge of the patent/IP landscape for synthetic biology and metabolic engineering. In this paper, we perform an assessment of pathways as potential targets for chemical production across the full catalogue of reachable chemicals in the extended metabolic space of chassis organisms, as computed by the retrosynthesis-based algorithm RetroPath. Our database for reactions processed by sequences in heterologous pathways was screened against …

Receptor For Fluorescence Sensing Of Organic Acid And Method Of Preparation Thereof (유기산 형광 인지 수용체 및 이의 제조방법), Hong Seok Kim, Md Wasi Ahmad Oct 2014

Receptor For Fluorescence Sensing Of Organic Acid And Method Of Preparation Thereof (유기산 형광 인지 수용체 및 이의 제조방법), Hong Seok Kim, Md Wasi Ahmad

Dr. Mohammad Wasi Ahmad (Md Wasi Ahmad)

The invention relates to the receptor it is the novel cholestane -based fluorescence which selectively reacts to the organic acid the pyrene group is bound as the fluorescence having the selectivity in the organic acid the receptor and a manufacturing method thereof in the imidazole -based cholestane introducing the imidazole to more detailed cholestane skeleton and manufacturing method thereof. By showing the organic acid, especially, the oxalic acid and high binding affinity the receptor has the effect that it selectively senses and the receptor can use in the sensing of the oxalic acid whether it is the imidazole -based cholestane …

Pyrene Appended Imidazole Compound And Selective Fluorescence Sensing Of Aromatic Carboxylic Acids Using The Same (파이렌-이미다졸기가 연결된 화합물 및 이를 이용한 방향족 카르복실산의 선택적 형광인지), Hong Seok Kim, Md Wasi Ahmad Jun 2014

Dr. Mohammad Wasi Ahmad (Md Wasi Ahmad)

The invention relates to the novel compound and the manufacturing method thereof, and the benzoic acid derivative and the salicylic acid derivative composition for detecting using the same. The novel compound of the present invention is comprised of the pyrene and imidazole. And it hydrogen-bonds with the compound which the imidazole part detects. It interacts with the benzene ring and strong π - π of the compound which the pyrene part detects and the fluorescence intensity is changed the aromatic carboxylic acid can be recognized.

Will International Trade Law Promote Or Inhibit Global Artificial Photosynthesis, Thomas A. Faunce Dec 2010

Will International Trade Law Promote Or Inhibit Global Artificial Photosynthesis, Thomas A. Faunce

Thomas A Faunce

Artificial photosynthesis (AP) is an area of well-advanced research involving large international groups at the cutting edge of synthetic biology and nanotechnology. In simple terms it offers to produce a cheap source of hydrogen for fuel through using sunlight to split water, as well as making basic starches by a process involving absorption of carbon dioxide via the enzyme RuBisCO. As the proliferating numbers of university-based research teams working in this area begin to combine, there will be a natural escalation of the expected time for a global roll-out of AP domestic and international devices. Policy attention will then turns …

10 Inventions On Improving Keyboard Efficiency: A Triz Based Analysis, Umakant Mishra Jan 2005

10 Inventions On Improving Keyboard Efficiency: A Triz Based Analysis, Umakant Mishra

Umakant Mishra

A keyboard is the most important input device for a computer. With the development of technology a basic keyboard does not want to remain confined within the basic functionalities of a keyboard, rather it wants to go beyond. There are several inventions which attempt to improve the efficiency of a conventional keyboard. This article illustrates 10 inventions from US Patent database all of which have proposed very interesting methods for improving the efficiency of a computer keyboard. Some interesting inventions include, adding toolbar buttons on the keyboard, power saving method, keyboard-cooling mechanism, robust keyboard for public use, keyboard enhancement for …

Field Identification Of Birdseye In Sugar Maple (Acer Saccharum Marsh.), Douglas D. Stokke, Don C. Bragg Jan 1994

Field Identification Of Birdseye In Sugar Maple (Acer Saccharum Marsh.), Douglas D. Stokke, Don C. Bragg

Douglas D. Stokke

Birdseye grain distortions in sugar maple must be identified to capture the full value of a timber sale throughout the economic range of birdseye's occurrence. Even when relatively common, birdseye veneer typically makes up less than 1 percent of the harvested volume, but may account for one-half of the value of the sale. With prices recently reaching $50,000 per Mbf for prime logs, omission of birdseye (when present) from cruise data could cause significant economic loss for the forest landowner. But figured wood can sometimes be detected in standing timber (Pillow 1955). Field identification of birdseye sugar maple is critical …
