Vertical, Thermal, And Geographic Habitats Of Whale Sharks (Rhincodon Typus) Tagged Along Ningaloo Reef, Western Australia, Rachel Steinberg
Vertical, Thermal, And Geographic Habitats Of Whale Sharks (Rhincodon Typus) Tagged Along Ningaloo Reef, Western Australia, Rachel Steinberg
Theses
Though whale sharks (Rhincodon typus) are the largest fish in the ocean there is little known about the species’ life history. Juvenile males are often observed at a number of locations world-wide but adult females, adult males, and neonates are rarely seen. Consequently, important issues like where whale sharks mate and give birth are unknown. Similarly, what geographic and vertical habitats whale sharks use to forage in are similarly poorly known. Seventeen juvenile whale sharks (10 female, 7 male) were outfitted with satellite tags off Ningaloo Reef, Western Australia between 2003 and 2009, and subsequently monitored for 1920 …
Understanding The Relationship Between Sedimentation, Vegetation And Topography In The Tijuana River Estuary, San Diego, Ca., Darbi Berry
Theses
The aim of this study is to identify and characterize key geomorphic properties and relationships within the study site, the Tijuana River Estuary. This is a first step in contributing data to and assisting current and future restoration projects in employing a holistic management approach. The study identifies specific physical parameters, grain size and metal concentrations, within the estuary whose relationship to one another is not mutually exclusive and therefore should be addressed in tandem. This study also tests a remote sensing method for use as a tool for monitoring habitat changes in the estuary.
Metadata And Minerals : A Library – Museum Pilot Project, Christine Baker
Metadata And Minerals : A Library – Museum Pilot Project, Christine Baker
Digital Initiatives Symposium
The Arthur Lakes Library and the Geology Museum at Colorado School of Mines (Mines) worked together to explore ways to promote the Museum’s unique collections. A task force formed to conduct a pilot project that involved creating digital access, via Mines Institutional Repository, to a set of the Museum’s mineral specimens from Creede Mining District. The Metadata Librarian collaborated with the Museum Collections Manager throughout this process to establish metadata requirements and workflows. This presentation explains how the pilot project came about and describes the preparation, metadata and workflow development, as well as the collaborative experience and evolution of this …
2019 Collaborative Species And Habitat Conservation Efforts In San Diego County: A Systematic Needs Assessment To Guide The San Diego End Extinction Initiative, Tessa Tinkler, Michelle Ahearne, Mary Jo Schumann
2019 Collaborative Species And Habitat Conservation Efforts In San Diego County: A Systematic Needs Assessment To Guide The San Diego End Extinction Initiative, Tessa Tinkler, Michelle Ahearne, Mary Jo Schumann
Environment
This report, prepared by the Caster Family Center for Nonprofit and Philanthropic Research documents the results of a systematic needs assessment prepared for the San Diego End Extinction (SDEE) initiative. The needs assessment was designed to assist SDEE to align its goals and priorities with San Diego County’s existing strengths and gaps in order to proactively prevent the loss of native plants and animals.

San Diego Regional Climate Collaborative
The San Diego Regional Climate Collaborative is a network for public agencies that serves the San Diego region to share expertise, leverage resources and advance comprehensive solutions to facilitate climate change planning. By partnering with academia, nonprofits, and businesses, the SDRCC also works to leverage the profile of regional leadership. This is the 2018 San Diego Regional Climate Collaborative Annual Report.

Climate change is impacting the way water is managed in the San Diego Region. Precipitation, temperature, and sea level are three primary climate indicators that will affect regional water resources over the next few decades.
Lease Structures & Occupancy Costs In Eco-Labeled Buildings, Jeremy Gabe, Spenser Robinson, Andrew Sanderford, Robert A. Simons
Lease Structures & Occupancy Costs In Eco-Labeled Buildings, Jeremy Gabe, Spenser Robinson, Andrew Sanderford, Robert A. Simons
School of Business: Faculty Scholarship
Purpose: This research investigates whether energy-efficient green buildings tend to provide net lease structures over gross lease ones. It then considers whether owners benefit by trading away operational savings in a net lease structure.
Design: Empirical models of office leasing transactions in Sydney, Australia, with wider transferability supported by analysis of office rent data in the United States.
Findings: Labelled green buildings are approximately four to five times more likely than non-labelled buildings to use a net lease structure. However, despite receiving operational savings, tenants in net leases pay higher total occupancy costs, benefiting owners. On average, …
