On The Contribution Of The 6.7 Kev Line Emission Of The Algol Binary System To The 6.7 Kev Line Emission From The Galactic Ridge, Ambrose Chukwudi Eze, Romanus Nwachukwu Chijioke Eze, Sudum Esaenwi

Turkish Journal of Physics

We carried out spectroscopic analysis of the extracted stellar flare of the Algol binary system observed using the Suzaku satellite (OBSID: 401093010), and resolved a strong 6.7 keV line emission. The 6.7 keV line emission of the Algol binary system is similar to the 6.7 keV line of the galactic ridge X-ray emission (GRXE). The equivalent width (EW) compared favorably with the EW of the 6.7 keV emission line obtained from different galactic ridge regions. In the galaxy, we have a reasonable number of Algol binary systems and many other stars as strong coronal X-ray emitters characterized by frequent quiescent …

Lime: Semiautomated Line Measurement And Identification From Stellar Spectra, Ti̇mur Şahi̇n

Turkish Journal of Physics

We present LIME (Line Measurements from ECHELLE Spectra), an IDL-based code, as a powerful tool for semiautomated stellar line measurement and identification. Interactively selected line positions (i.e. wavelengths) are compared with a master line list of the user's selections. Each unknown line that the user interactively chooses is displayed with potential identifications provided by the code in the vicinity of the selected line. The best identification is evaluated on the basis of several criteria (e.g., atomic/molecular line information, wavelength displacement, and theoretical equivalent width for solar atmospheric values). We examined the identifications by LIME in the spectra of post-red supergiant …

Second Law Of Gravitational Thermodynamics In The Locally Rotationally Symmetric Bianchi Type-Ii Universe, Murat Korunur Jan 2017

Second Law Of Gravitational Thermodynamics In The Locally Rotationally Symmetric Bianchi Type-Ii Universe, Murat Korunur

Turkish Journal of Physics

In this work, under the assumption that the universe is locally rotationally symmetric (LRS) Bianchi type-II and filled with anisotropic dark fluid (dark energy and dark radiation), we investigate whether the generalized second law of thermodynamics (GSLT) is still valid. We also consider another important condition for LRS Bianchi type-II spacetimes whereby the model expansion $\theta $ is proportional to the shear $\sigma $, which leads to $B=A^{n}$ (where n is a constant and A and B are the metric potentials). Based on this, we derive a general circumstance for the GSLT and find that its validity depends on the …

First-Principles Modeling Of Gan/Mose$_{2}$ Van Der Waals Heterobilayer, Celal Yelgel

Turkish Journal of Physics

We investigate structural and electronic properties of the graphene-like gallium nitride (GaN) monolayer deposited on a MoSe$_{2}$ monolayer by using density functional theory with the inclusion of the nonlocal van der Waals correction. The GaN is bound weakly to the MoSe$_{2}$ monolayer with adsorption energy of 49 meV/atom. We find that the heterobilayer is energetically favorable with the interlayer distance of 3.302 {\AA} indicating van der Waals (vdW) type interaction and the most stable stacking configuration is verified with different deposition sequences. The heterostructure of GaN/MoSe$_{2}$ is found to be indirect band gap semiconductor with gap value of 1.371 eV. …

Magnetized Strange Quark Matter In Reconstructed $F(R,T)$ Gravity For Bianchi I And V Universes With Cosmological Constant, Can Aktaş Jan 2017

Magnetized Strange Quark Matter In Reconstructed $F(R,T)$ Gravity For Bianchi I And V Universes With Cosmological Constant, Can Aktaş

Turkish Journal of Physics

In this article, we have investigated the behaviors of magnetized strange quark matter distributions for Bianchi I and V universes in reconstructed $f?eft( R,T \right)=\alpha_{1}R+\alpha_{2}f_{3}(T)$ gravity (here $\alpha_{1}$ and $\alpha_{2}$ are constants; $f_{3}(T)$ is an arbitrary function of $T)$. To get solutions of the field equations we have used a deceleration parameter and the equation of state for strange quark matter. The new represented $f(R,T)$ model includes two models of Harko et al. and transforms to general relativity. When $t\to ınfty $, we get the dark energy model ($p=-\rho )$ in reconstructed $f?eft( R,T \right)=\alpha _{1}R+\alpha_{2}f_{3}(T)$ gravity. However, we obtain …

Analytical Solution Of The Local Fractional Klein-Gordon Equation For Generalized Hulthen Potential, Hasi̇be Hale Karayer, Ahmet Doğan Demi̇rhan, Fevzi̇ Büyükkiliç

Turkish Journal of Physics

The one-dimensional Klein-Gordon (KG) equation is investigated in the domain of conformable fractional calculus for one-dimensional scalar potential, namely generalized Hulthen potential. The conformable fractional calculus is based on conformable fractional derivative, which is the most natural definition in noninteger order calculus. Fractional order differential equations can be solved analytically by means of this derivative operator. We obtained exact eigenvalue and eigenfunction solutions of the local fractional KG equation and investigated the evolution of relativistic effects in correspondence with the fractional order.

Applying A Self-Feedback Method To Control Chaos In The Buck Converter, Mei Mei Jia Jan 2017

Applying A Self-Feedback Method To Control Chaos In The Buck Converter, Mei Mei Jia

Turkish Journal of Physics

Chaos exists in the Buck converter due to the switching action of the controlled switch and this nonlinear phenomenon results in unreliable working performances. Hence, this paper uses a self-feedback control method with two adjustable parameters to suppress the chaotic behavior in the Buck converter. First, the self-feedback control method is presented by introducing a generic second-order chaotic system. Then, from the perspective of transfer functions obtained in terms of the piecewise linear model of the controlled Buck converter, effects of controller's parameters on system performances are discussed. On the basis of the Jacobian matrix of the discrete iterative mapping …

Improvement Of Electrochemical And Structural Properties Of Polycarbazole By Simultaneous Electrodeposition Of Chitosan, Di̇dem Balun Kayan, Veysel Polat

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Polycarbazole/chitosan composite materials were synthesized electrochemically at various loadings of chitosan (Chi). Their electrochemical, structural, thermal, and morphological characterizations were investigated by cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermal gravimetry, and scanning electron microscopy. Further electrical conductivity was measured using a four-point probe technique. The electrochemical results showed that the electrical conductivity of the polymeric composite film was increased by increasing the amount of Chi in the electrolyte medium. The as-prepared composite films exhibited enhanced electrical conductivity and structural properties of polycarbazole due to the presence of Chi in the composite films.

In complex 1, the adjacent chains are linked by two apim ligands to …

Investigation Of Solvent Effect On Photophysical Properties Of Some Sulfonamides Derivatives, Ebru Bozkurt, Hali̇se İnci̇ Gül, Mehtap Tuğrak Jan 2017

Investigation Of Solvent Effect On Photophysical Properties Of Some Sulfonamides Derivatives, Ebru Bozkurt, Hali̇se İnci̇ Gül, Mehtap Tuğrak

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

The photophysical properties of new sulfonamides synthesized recently were investigated in different solvents. Shifts in the absorption and fluorescence spectra of both compounds (S10 and S11) occurred depending on the solvents used. Ground and excited state dipole moments of the molecules were calculated using the spectral shifts of the compounds in different solvents and polarity function of solvents, respectively. They were 1.32 and 1.46 D for S10 and 1.71 and 4.89 D for S11. These results suggested that the excited state dipole moments are greater than those in ground state for both molecules. This means that the dyes were more …

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

Our studies on the selective catalytic reduction of NO (SCR-deNO) properties of M/$\gamma $-Al$_{2}$O$_{3}$ (M = Mn, Co, Cu) nanocatalysts are presented. All catalysts were prepared by homogeneous deposition precipitation using urea as the precursor for the precipitating agent. The SCR activity followed the order Mn/$\gamma $-Al$_{2}$O$_{3} >$ Cu/$\gamma $-Al$_{2}$O$_{3} >$ Co/$\gamma $-Al$_{2}$O$_{3}$. The nanocatalysts were characterized with respect to their texture (N$_{2}$-BET), particle size (TEM), reducibility (H$_{2}$-TPR), and acidity (NH$_{3}$-TPD). The TEM analysis revealed that the metal species have superior dispersion with less agglomeration and sintering on $\gamma $-Al$_{2}$O$_{3}$ support. The H$_{2}$-TPR results confirmed that the Mn/$\gamma $-Al$_{2}$O$_{3}$ nanocatalyst …

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

This study deals with the adsorption of two pesticides, carbendazim and flumetsulam, from aqueous solutions onto four homoionic-montmorillonite clays (Ag$^{+}$, Zn$^{2+}$, Cu$^{2+}$, and H$^{+})$. Equilibrium adsorption isotherm data were analyzed using Freundlich, Dubinin-Radushkevich, and Temkin isotherms. Linear and nonlinear fitting methods were compared to determine the best-fitting isotherms for the experimental data. Three error analysis methods were used to evaluate the data for each method: the coefficient of determination (R$^{2})$, sum of squared errors (SSE), and chi-square test ($\chi^{2})$. Equilibrium adsorption isotherms exhibited that the carbendazim adsorption mainly involved cation exchange with homoionic-montmorillonite adsorbents. However, for flumetsulam, the main mechanisms …

Synchrotron X-Ray Diffraction Studies Of $\Beta $-Ca$_{2-X}M_{X}$Sio$_{4}$ ($M$ = Mg And Sr), Anti Prodjosantoso, Brendan Kennedy

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

The structures of Mg- and Sr-doped $\beta $-Ca$_{2}$SiO$_{4}$ have been established from high-resolution synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction. These silicates are all isostructural and the structures have been refined in the monoclinic space group, $P$2$_{1}$/$n$. As expected based on size arguments, the cell parameters increase as the amount of Sr increases and likewise decrease as the amount of Mg increases due the size effects of the dopant cation. In all cases the SiO$_{4}$ tetrahedra are essentially regular.
