This poster presents an analysis into the integration of circular design principles within renewable energy policies, comparing the approaches of Illinois, USA, and Germany. With the global shift towards renewable energy to combat climate change, the sustainable management of end-of-life (EoL) renewable assets has become crucial. The study utilizes a thematic analysis to explore seven key policies from Illinois and five from Germany, employing NVivo software to dissect aspects such as design strategies, support for innovation, and enforcement mechanisms.

Sustainability reports have the function of image enhancement and trust building for organizations, particularly for those in the consumer goods industry. Advancing the research on corporate social responsibility, this study examines how consumer goods organizations communicate their sustainability/impact activities by comparing three large global organizations. Heck C-C cross-coupling reaction has been widely employed in synthetic organic chemistry because of its high efficiency and simplicity, however the conventional Heck C-C cross-coupling reaction conditions involve the use of an expensive toxicant phosphine-ligated palladium complexes, and high temperature. To address these drawbacks, a highly efficient, homogeneous photocatalyst based on BODIPY for the Heck C-C cross-coupling reactions of aryl iodide and methyl acrylate in DMF solvent under inert conditions has been developed. The 4-Py-BDP-Pd, 3-Py-BDP-Pd and, 2-Py-BOD-Pd catalysts were synthesized and purified using column chromatography. Despite the growing number of dam removals to date, very few have been studied to understand their impacts on stream fish communities. Despite being the most common type of dam in the U.S., an even smaller proportion of studies focus on the impacts of low-head dam removals, instead, focusing on the impacts of removal of larger dams. In this study, two previously impounded Illinois rivers were monitored to assess the impacts of low-head dam removal on the functional assemblage of stream fishes. An experimental determination of RC constant at the edge and the center of a disk electrode was done using in situ reflectance spectroscopy on a Au electrode immersed in HClO4 as electrolyte. The RC constant at the edge of the disk electrode was found much smaller than that at the center. Such differences contribute to the selective removal of the deposited Cu on an Au disk electrode.

Applying Intensity-Based Methods To Disentangle Microwave Spectra Of Complex Mixtures: Analysis Of Weakly Bound Clusters Of 1,1-Difluoroethylene/Co2, Hannah Fino

Microwave spectroscopy is used to study the solvent-solute interactions between molecules of CO2 and fluoroethylenes by analyzing the formation of weakly-bound clusters in a gaseous mixture. One of the challenges to analyzing microwave spectra obtained for these weakly-bound species is that spectra for individual clusters are mixed together in an original complex spectrum. This prompts development of automated techniques that could separate complex data into subsets of related data to be more easily analyzed.

Mechanically interlocked molecules (MIMs) are arranged with mechanical bonds. These molecules cannot be separated without breaking the required covalent bonds. There are different kinds of MIMs, such as rotaxanes, catenanes, suitanes, borromean rings, and molecular knots. These MIMs are stabilized by non-covalent interactions such as hydrogen bonds, π-π stacking, and ion-dipole interactions. Dialkylammonium ions, bis(pyridinium)ethane dications, viologen species, and naphthalene diimide π-deficient groups are typical examples of recognition motifs for crown ethers.

This thesis concerns the study of the Cheeger constant of two related hyperbolic Riemann surfaces. The first surface R is formed by taking the quotient U2/Γ(4), where U2 is the upper half-plane model of the hyperbolic plane and Γ(4) is a congruence subgroup of PSL2(Z), an isometry group of U2 . This quotient is shown to form a Riemann surface which is constructed by gluing sides of a fundamental domain for Γ(4) together according to certain specified side pairings. Peroxisomes are dynamic and interconnected single lipid membrane bound organelles found in the eukaryotic cells which are involved in various biochemical processes including the b-oxidation of very long chain and branched chain fatty acids, metabolism of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species, and reduction of hydrogen peroxide among others. These organelles are known to host numerous proteins and enzymes depending on the cellular environment. Using A Discursive Framework To Analyze Geometric Learning And Instruction, Peter Wiles, Rick Anderson

In this study we applied a discursive perspective of learning (Sfard, 2008) to a sequence of 21 geometry mini-lessons taught in a fourth grade classroom. From this perspective, learning is defined as changes in mathematical discourse. We first characterize and then compare discourse from the beginning and the end of the mini-lesson sequence. We identify shifts in the discourse that occurred during the sequence. We then discuss how the characteristics of the st geometric discourse informed task design and instruction. This perspective provided a useful means for linking instruction to student learning in an operationalized manner.

Molecular baskets are a group of synthetic host molecules which are designed to govern the inclusion of small guest molecules. The basic structural features of basket-shaped host molecules are a cavity for holding a much smaller guest molecule and tunable gates for keeping the guest molecule inside. Soil microbes have profound impacts on plant growth and survival and can either promote or inhibit plant dominance. Exotic plants are often strongly invasive because they have escaped their natural enemies, potentially including antagonistic soil microbes. I examined how the invasive shrub Lonicera maackii and a common native tree, Acer negundo, responded to soil microbial communities to determine the role of soil microbes in regulating invasion success.
