The Lime Content Of Rocks Of The Upper Cretaceous System Of Ellis County, Kansas, G. Lawrence Rarick Nov 1935

The Lime Content Of Rocks Of The Upper Cretaceous System Of Ellis County, Kansas, G. Lawrence Rarick

Master's Theses

The report which is being submitted here is the result of several weeks of field and laboratory work investigating the rocks of the Upper Cretaceous System of Ellis County, Kansas. The writer has attempted to consider the subject primarily from a chemical viewpoint although much of the background for the work has been of a geological nature. There has been no attempt to give a complete chemical analysis of the rocks of the Upper Cretaceous System, but rather a more or less thorough analysis in regard to the percentage of lime that the rocks of the various formations and members …

E, Doyle K. Brooks

Master's Theses

The meteoric splendor of the transcendental constant e is an intriguing mystery. It rises unexpectedly from nowhere, brilliantly illuminates some obscure mathematical concept, points to its solution, and abruptly fades into oblivion. Its unheralded visitation leaves the student wiser but wondering, tantalized by its omnipotence in apparently unrelated fields. Ever since his first introduction to e in elementary logarithms it has seemed to the writer that all the authors of textbooks are in a conspiracy to defeat any real knowledge of e. They say "2.71828… , called e, is the base of Naperian logarithms." Why? "The derivative of eX is …

Some Aldehyde Condensation Derivatives Of Creatinine, Clarence England Denoon Jr. Apr 1935

Some Aldehyde Condensation Derivatives Of Creatinine, Clarence England Denoon Jr.

Master's Theses

When insulin, a substance which is used to reduce sugar in the blood is hydrolysed, products are obtained bearing some similarity to creatinine. Therefore, reasoning conversely, creatinine derivatives might be expected to posses as a hypo- glycemic (sugar reducing) effect.
