Blue Carbon: Methane Emissions From Managed Saline Ponds In The South Bay Salt Pond Restoration Project, San Francisco Bay, Haley J. Miller, Glenn E. Woerndle, Steve Crooks, Jason K. Keller

Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Sciences Faculty Data Sets

This data set reports net methane (CH4) emissions from managed saline ponds and a restored salt marsh associated with the South Bay Salt Ponds Restoration Project, San Francisco Bay, CA, USA. Associated biogeochemical and physical data are also reported. Data were collected on five sampling dates over the course of the study: November 2016, January 2017, March 2017, June 2017 and August 2017. Logistics (e.g., weather and road conditions) and nesting birds did not allow us to sample all locations during all sampling events.

Methane emissions were measured using static chambers and biogeochemical data were measured on porewater ...

Geography Publications and Other Works

The deposited data include new estimated ages along with microscopic charcoal data for a sediment core from Anderson Pond, Tennessee, recovered in 1976 by H.R. Delcourt (Ecological Monographs 49:255–280, 1979). These data supplement the paper by S.P. Horn, M.S. Boehm, and J.P. Ballard, "An improved chronology for the microscopic charcoal and pollen records from Anderson Pond, Tennessee, USA" (Palynology, forthcoming). The microscopic charcoal data were developed under NSF grant #0822824 to Sally Horn and Zheng-Hua Li. The new age estimates build upon research supported by that award and by NSF grants #0823131 to Steven ...

Lynn Mazzoleni

This dataset and the methods used to obtain it were described in "Molecular insights on aging and aqueous phase processing from ambient biomass burning emissions-influenced Po Valley fog and aerosol” submitted to Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics in March of 2018. Briefly, two samples of ambient fog water and two samples of ambient aerosol collected in the Po Valley (Italy) during the 2013 Supersito field campaign were analyzed using negative mode electrospray ionization Fourier transform ion cyclotron mass spectrometry (FT-ICR MS). The extent of “fresh” vs. “aged” biomass burning influence was estimated prior to FT-ICR MS analysis using proton nuclear magnetic ...

Mitochondrial And Nuclear Sequences For Phylogenetic Analysis Of Three Cephalopod Species, Northern Gulf Of Mexico, May 2015 To May 2017, Amanda Sosnowki

DEEPEND Datasets

The midwater column contains a wide diversity of cephalopods in the northern Gulf of Mexico. DNA sequence data (barcodes) have become a key tool to discover hidden biodiversity. We generated mitochondrial DNA barcode datasets based on the Cytochrome c oxidase I (COI), 16s, and 28s genes from cephalopods. These data were analyzed using phylogenetic methods to examine possible connectivity of 3 species (Vampyroteuthis infernalis, Pyroteuthis margaritifera, and Cranchia scabra) between two basins, the Gulf of Mexico and the area surrounding Bear Seamount in the northwestern Atlantic Ocean. These datasets were generated from cephalopods collected in the northern Gulf of Mexico ...

Data and Datasets

We studied ion transport in hybrid organic inorganic perovskite p-i-n devices as a function of applied bias under device operating conditions. Using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and equivalent circuit modeling, we elucidated various resistive and capacitive elements in the device. We show that ion migration is predictably influenced by a low applied forward bias, characterized by an increased capacitance at the hole transporting (HTM) and electron transporting material (ETM) interfaces, as well as through the bulk. However, unlike observations in n-i-p devices, we found that there is a capacitive discharge leading to ion redistribution in the bulk at high forward ...

DEEPEND Datasets

Larval catch data after the oil spill is being used to improve our understanding of the causes of temporal variability as it relates to the Deep Water Horizon oil spill (DWHOS). Bongo and neuston net tows were conducted at 48 stations in both June and July, 2015 in the northern Gulf of Mexico. Cruise data collected at each site included latitude/longitude, date, time and environmental data (temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen). The occurrence and density of selected epipelagic (e.g., billfishes, tunas, dolphinfishes, flyingfishes) and deep pelagic (e.g., lanternfishes, bristlemouths, marine hatchetfishes) fish larvae were quantified and are being ...

DEEPEND Datasets

This data set includes the biological PAH (Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons) data of target species collected during the DP01 (May 1-8, 2015) and DP02 cruises (August 8-21, 2015) in the Northern Gulf of Mexico. The target fish species include Ceratoscopelus warmingii, Chaulidus spp., Diaphus spp., Argyropelecus spp, Lampanyctus alatus, and Sigma elongatum. Ergot And Loline Alkaloid Concentrations In Endophyte-Infected Tall Fescue Tillers, Rebecca L. Mcculley

Forage Climate Change Experiment Research Data

Approximately 40 tall fescue tillers were randomly collected and frozen from each of the 20 treatment plots.

Tillers were cut at 7.6 cm above ground level and tested for the presence of the Epichloe endophyte using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.

Tillers from each plot were sorted into 'infected' vs 'uninfected' groups, lyophilized, and ground through a 1mm screen using a Cyclotec 1093 mill.

Ground material from the endophyte infected tillers was analyzed for ergot and loline alkaloids in the lab of Lowell Bush at the University of Kentucky, Plant and Soil Sciences Dept.

For details on alkaloid analyses see ...
