Temperature Dependence Of Soil-Moisture Potential, Jacob Willem Kijne
Temperature Dependence Of Soil-Moisture Potential, Jacob Willem Kijne
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
Teachers have noticed that children draw only those objects which they know by name. Doubtless the adult has a similar tendency, exemplified by the researcher, to limit his observations or to relate them to that which can be expressed in the terminology of an existing or newly developed theory. In this thesis the data obtained from studies of the temperature and pressure dependence of the relative vapor pressure over moist soil samples are analyzed by a thermodynamic approach. Not all of the results can be explained completely by means of this tool. Natural systems, such as a moist soil, are …
Effects Of Temperature On Moisture Conductivity In Unsaturated Soil, Richard O'Bannon Meeuwig
Effects Of Temperature On Moisture Conductivity In Unsaturated Soil, Richard O'Bannon Meeuwig
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
Water moves in soil in response to potential gradients. The basic equation for this movement is the generalized v=-K▽Φ in which v is volume of water passing through a unit area in unit time, K is the conductivity coefficient, ▽, is the gradient operator (vector), and ▽Φ is the potential gradient.
Influence Of Fertilizer Treatment On The Response Of Sugar Beet Yield To Moisture, Samad Farzanfar
Influence Of Fertilizer Treatment On The Response Of Sugar Beet Yield To Moisture, Samad Farzanfar
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
Many factors that influence the growth and quality of sugar beets behave in one way under one set of conditions and in quite another under other conditions. Consequently, these factors should be considered together under a dynamic situation to find their interrelations and their influence on sugar beet yield.
This study is a statistical analysis of the interaction of fertilizer and soil moisture potential with the yield of sugar beets grown in a crop rotation under different regimes of irrigation conducted over a period of seven years.
The data are available for the years 1949 through 1956, from an intensive …
The Interaction Of Water And Salt Flow In Unsaturated Soils, Mahmoud Hassan Abd-El Aziz
The Interaction Of Water And Salt Flow In Unsaturated Soils, Mahmoud Hassan Abd-El Aziz
All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023
The movements of salt and water, particularly in fairly dry soils or compacted shales, are important processes in both agronomic studies and hydraulics of deep ground water which is important in the location of oil.

Sulfur Fertilizers For Alfalfa Production In Nebraska, R. L. Fox, A. D. Flowerday, F. W. Hosterman, H. F. Rhoades, R. A. Olson
Historical Research Bulletins of the Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station
In order to elaborate all aspects of the sulfur problem in alfalfa production, a series of field, greenhouse and laboratory experiments was initiated to determine: 1. The influence of sulfur fertilization on the yield of alfalfa in Nebraska. 2. The influence of sulfur fertilization on the protein, vitamin A, and sulfur contents of alfalfa. 3. The sulfur supplying capacities of various soils under field and greenhouse conditions. 4. The sulfur content of precipitation at widely scattered points in Nebraska. 5. Soil properties associated with sulfur deficiency. 6. Optimum methods for estimating the sulfur status of soils by soil testing. The …
Soil Erosion And Farm Water Supplies, J C. Grasby, J. E. Watson
Soil Erosion And Farm Water Supplies, J C. Grasby, J. E. Watson
Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4
Water supplies for stock have an important influence on farm management.
In this article Soil Conservation Advisers J. C. Grasby and J. E. Watson discuss problems of soil erosion and farm water supplies.

Opposed Disc Plough Furrows Hard Kimberley Soils, Department Of Agriculture, Western Australia
Opposed Disc Plough Furrows Hard Kimberley Soils, Department Of Agriculture, Western Australia
Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4
THE work of reclaiming the eroded areas of the Ord River catchment has posed special problems for field staff of the Department of Agriculture engaged on this large scale project.
Thousands of miles of furrows must be contour-ploughed and seeded in extremely hard ground over big areas of eroded country.
Treating Severe Saltland, Department Of Agriculture, Western Australia
Treating Severe Saltland, Department Of Agriculture, Western Australia
Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4
THE illustration shows a large area of severely salt affected land near Narembeen.
Before treatment, sheep had access to the area and in summer broke the topsoil into a fine powder which lifted to form dust storms with every good breeze.
Planning New Farm Dams : Excavated Earth Tanks, J E. Watson, J. C. Grasby
Planning New Farm Dams : Excavated Earth Tanks, J E. Watson, J. C. Grasby
Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4
A GOOD farm dam is a valuable asset, and well worth its cost, but there are many aspects to consider when a new dam is required. Careful planning with adequate testing and checking will help to get the best value for money and reduce the chance of costly failures.
This article discusses these aspects in relation to the excavated earth tank type of dam.
